Lucia chose a table in a noisy, far from the most prestigious bar and ordered a drink. The whole hall was buzzing with anticipation, waiting for the performance of the Hackside band that played in honor of the university where she studied.
Suddenly, a sharp electric guitar rang out, drowning out the hum of voices, and the crowd roared:
—Amelia! Amelia!
A singer came on stage. Her mint-colored hair fell softly to her shoulders, and her amber eyes sparkled in the spotlight. As soon as she sang, her voice filled the entire space. Lucia involuntarily looked at her, and their eyes met. For a moment, it was as if lightning flashed between them. The heat went through my body, and goosebumps ran over my skin.
Embarrassed, Lucia averted her eyes, but after a moment she risked looking back at the stage. Amelia was no longer looking at her—she was smiling at the crowd, her fangs flashing in the spotlight.
Lucia swallowed. She didn't know what it was, but that moment stuck in her memory.
