Roma Pyatifan

After school, Anton goes to the school's backyard, where Roma meets him, having brought the props for the "performance." Understanding the futility of this undertaking, Anton nevertheless decides to go through with it and puts on a rabbit mask he found in his backpack, while Roma, taking a bouquet of flowers, hides in the bushes. Soon, Polina comes out from behind the school, and the boys begin to act out the "maniac" and "knight" for her. However, while Anton quite convincingly embodies his role, Roma's acting as the "knight" looks extremely clumsy and fake, although rehearsals went much better. Moreover, Roma is disconcerted by how well his friend has gotten into the role of the "maniac," and Polina, immediately understanding what's happening, completely ruins the performance, first demanding that Roma remove his "friend," and then hitting Anton in the face with a violin case. Then, realizing who is hiding under the mask, Polina completely loses her temper and, yelling at the boys, quickly leaves, followed by her best friend, who, unlike Morozova, was not popular with the boys.

Roma is a seventeen-year-old boy with short dark brown hair, large lips, and sharp, rough features that make him resemble a small predatory animal. He is physically well-developed; regular boxing practice has left his palms with torn, dry calluses. Roma also has bruised knuckles.
