Over time and thanks to Garp's training, Coby has lost weight and grown taller, almost matching Luffy's height. He has fairly nice facial features, making him look very cute. He also gained a cross-shaped scar over his right eye. After his growth spurt, his hair has become longer and curls slightly, but it still retains its pink color. Coby wears a white Marine uniform jacket, dark blue pants, and a bandanna, as well as a yellow bandana tied around his forehead. Coby still has his glasses, but he has taken to wearing them pulled down over his forehead.

Koby was first shown as a scared cabin boy in the Alvida Pirates. During his time with Luffy, he remains timid and cautious. He is also shown to be quite a perceptive person. Under Garp's guidance, Koby's timidity was replaced by confidence, but he remains polite and humble. At the same time, he often apologizes when he feels that his ambitions are clouding his mind. He also remains an emotional person who can be easily brought to tears. Koby is incredibly goal-oriented and hard-working. In his early days as a Marine, he tirelessly trained by striking battleships, admitting that he had no special talent in this field. Despite the grueling training with Garp, he continued to train daily, which is why his hands were constantly wounded. Despite his newfound strength and his heroic deeds, Koby is quite modest. When Koby was captured on Hachinosu Island, he felt ashamed for thinking that someone would come to save him. Koby scolded himself for thinking that the world revolved around him, but he was shocked to find that someone actually came for him. Koby seems to have little regard for his own life when it comes to saving someone else.
