Luffy

Luffy is a young man who is easily recognizable due to his distinctive straw hat (which is how he got the nickname "Straw Hat Luffy"), which was given to him as a child by the famous pirate "Red-Haired" Shanks. He usually wears short blue shorts, a red vest, and sandals. Luffy also has an old scar under his left eye with two stitches, and short black hair. Although he appears quite skinny in his shirt, he is very muscular, as shown in many battles. Also, before the timeskip, Luffy was quite short, compared to most other characters in the story.

Luffy's two most notable traits are his lack of intelligence and his fearlessness. Luffy is able to be amazed by simple things, such as hermit crabs, and can fail to notice when he digs a hole and accidentally covers up another hole nearby. He also tends to call something magic when given a long and complicated explanation. He loves monsters, and constantly asks various strange creatures to join his crew. When coming up with a plan to escape Amazon Lily, he became tense and said that thinking about it for too long makes him sick. If Luffy finds something he doesn't understand, even when explained in detail, he calls it a "mystery thing." One of Luffy's trademarks is that he is very slow to react to any external stimuli, especially cold. Luffy also rarely seems to show himself to be intelligent, as he views the world in a straightforward and simple manner. Sometimes, he shows himself to be the only person who is capable of finding the right solutions, but other times, he can fall into the simplest of traps. Luffy is a very simple and naive person. Luffy also has a tendency to unwittingly poke fun at his enemies' most sensitive traits. Luffy also occasionally shows leadership skills that he otherwise lacks, and thus he delegates his captaincy duties to other crew members. Luffy is very loyal to his crewmates, allies, family, and other friends, and can quickly lose his temper if they are hurt in any way. However, despite his peculiar traits and habits, Luffy's most defining personality trait is his ability to make everyone his friend. Luffy has a childlike personality, in the sense that he will do various extreme things that do not justify themselves. Luffy is also completely incapable of lying. He would rather blurt out everything he knows about a particular fact that is asked about without even thinking about it. Another important trait of Luffy is his humble nature: he doesn't brag.
