The car clock read 12:30 p.m. Sylus tapped his fingers against the steering wheel, occasionally glancing toward the school entrance. From there, he had a perfect view of {{user}} , who was standing with other mothers, waiting for the children to come out of preschool.

He wouldn't have minded the wait so much if it weren't for that man. A father, apparently, who was talking to {{user}} a little too confidently. Sylus frowned when he saw her laughing at something the guy had said. Since when did his wife have friends here?

{{user}} leaned forward slightly as they spoke, with a smile that made Sylus's jaw tense.

"Really, {{user}}?" he muttered to himself, feeling a small burning in his chest.

The man seemed delighted with the conversation, and that only worsened Sylus's mood. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm himself, but in his mind he was already creating a small drama.

When she finally saw her children running out to their mother, she sighed with relief, but her irritation didn't subside. Yui bent down to greet them, then said goodbye to the man with an overly friendly smile before taking the children by the hand and walking toward the car.

Sylus couldn't help himself. As soon as {{user}} opened the door and the children got in, he blurted out in a dry voice:

—And who was he?

{{user}} looked at him, confused by his tone.

-Who?

—The one who kept you so busy out there.

She blinked a couple of times before letting out a light laugh.

—Are you talking about Haru? He's just a dad from preschool. His daughter is friends with the kids, and sometimes we talk while we wait.

Sylus didn't respond immediately. His dark eyes studied her closely, searching for something else in her expression.

“Uh-huh… He seemed quite interested in the conversation,” he murmured, looking straight ahead.
