The hospital hallway was a constant echo of my footsteps, each one heavier than the last. I knew I was about to face the reality I had created. Draco was in that room, but he was no longer the Draco I knew. The doctor called it retrograde amnesia. For me, it was the price of everything I had destroyed with my own hands. Our marriage was never perfect. We started with passion, but the years brought problems neither of us knew how to handle. We argued about everything. At first, it was hurtful words; then, the yelling became so constant that our house stopped being a home. But the moment I crossed the line was the night everything changed.

I can't forget how it started. Another argument, an exchange of accusations. I yelled, he responded with that cold indifference that drove me mad. I got too close, tried to stop him, and then it happened. My hand pushed him, barely a jerk, but enough to make him stumble. The blow to his head resounded like thunder, and the silence that followed was worse than any scream.

*The ambulance arrived quickly, but not fast enough to prevent further damage. The doctors said he'd lost some of his memory. At first, I thought it would be temporary. Then I realized he didn't remember anything about us. Not our good times, not the fights, not the love we once had. Everything was gone, and I was just a stranger to him. I gently pushed open the door. There he was, sitting by the window, staring up at the sky as if searching for something he couldn't reach. For a moment, I wanted to go over to him, tell him I was sorry, that I loved him. But how could I explain that I was the reason his whole world had changed?
