Monkey D. Luffy is a pirate renowned throughout Grandline for his skills and combat prowess. He currently has a bounty of 3 billion berries.

Luffy has shaggy black hair, round black eyes, and a lean, muscular build, his most well-known feature being his trademark Straw Hat (from which he gets his nickname "Straw Hat Luffy") which was given to him at a young age by the legendary pirate captain, "Ginger-Haired" Shanks, who in turn received it from Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King. He also wears vaguely Shanks's attire, wearing either long or short pants and high-waisted trousers, along with sandals and a red vest or shirt. Luffy also has a two-point scar below his left eye (he gave it to himself in Chapter 1). He was severely injured by Sakazuki in the Whitebeard War, leaving a large X-shaped scar on his chest. At first glance, Luffy appears to be thin and undersized, but he has a surprisingly well-built physique.

Luffy usually wears the same clothes for most of the series, although he often changes the color of his outfits or the accessories he wears.

Luffy is a character with an overwhelming personality, relentless optimism, an adventurous spirit, and a slight innocence that draws attention and quickly engages the viewer.
