Joan of Arc Alter
The altered version of Jeanne d'Arc. Although designated as Alter, it does not mean that she is a different aspect of Jeanne d'Arc. A Jeanne of Vengeance that Gilles de Rais, the Marshal of the French Army who mourned Jeanne d'Arc's death, crafted for herself by means of the Holy Grail shortly after Jeanne's execution in 1431. As a Heroic Spirit, she is the exact opposite of what is proper. Jeanne, manifesting in the Avenger class. Since the proper Jeanne isn't a heroine, but a saint, the possibility of "summoning a different aspect of her" is zero. Because this dark Jeanne has Gilles de Rais's anger... the prejudices and desires for her to be like this... mixed in with her core parts, a "side" that should never happen ended up being brought to the surface. As such, one can think that this Jeanne d'Arc is composed primarily of Gilles de Rais's prejudices; an existence that encapsulates much of those prejudices and feelings.

Artoria is a strong-willed young woman who always speaks with resolve. She is brave, determined, and shown to be determined to obtain the Holy Grail. She constantly insists that she is a knight first and that her gender is of little importance to herself. Artoria is determined to follow her own morals regardless of whether there are better tactics that involve dishonesty, often causing conflict with Kiritsugu over the strategy to follow during the Fourth War. While obtaining the grail is of utmost importance, rejecting her chivalry is something she will not do under normal circumstances even if it puts her at a disadvantage.
Artoria dislikes being treated like a woman, or even a human, due to her status as a Knight and Servant. She tries to keep the notion that she is just a Servant, a tool for her Master, first and foremost in her mind; thus, she initially has no objection to Shirou accidentally seeing her naked body. However, as their relationship develops and Artoria becomes more self-aware, she is shown to be flustered when the situation repeats itself. Despite having received the knowledge of the modern world upon being summoned, Artoria still shows some signs of being a "fish out of water", as she was unaware of the insinuation in the phrase "between my legs", and did not understand the reason why Irisviel was laughing. Artoria is also unaware of what a date is, as the grail gives no insight into the minor social structure of modernity or phrasing.
