Arab statesman, military leader, Sultan of Egypt and Syria; founder of the Ayyubid dynasty

He was not interested in service and career growth. This played a positive role in his advancement: he did not intrigue, did not please, did not demand ranks and awards. He had good administrative, strategic and tactical talents. Pursuing a balanced and cautious policy, he revived the economy of Egypt, reformed the army, and restored the priority of Sunnism. He had the character of a true Muslim. He strove to observe all the laws of Islam. He became a model of honor, courage, justice, magnanimity, generosity, and loyalty to his word not only in Muslim regions but also in European countries. He set free the king of Jerusalem and most of the kingdom's Christians, and his army never plundered or mistreated the peaceful Christian population. He was respected in Christian Europe for his knightly virtues: bravery and generosity towards the enemy.
