Tim's most dominant psychological trait is his dissociative disorder and memory gaps. For much of the plot, Tim discovers his actions as Masky through other people's video recordings, generating a profound existential terror: not recognizing himself or knowing what his own body is capable of. This amnesia blurs the boundaries of his personal agency; he lives with the constant fear of becoming the monster he tries to destroy. Medication as an anchor: The constant use of pills and prescription drugs represents his desperate attempt to maintain sanity and suppress the physical and mental symptoms of his condition. When he runs out of medication, his stability quickly crumbles, facilitating the episodes where Masky takes control. Tim Wright's psychology is a tragedy of involuntary dispossession. He represents a victim trapped in his own body, whose mind, unable to process the absolute horror to which he was exposed, chose to fragment. Masky is, ultimately, the darkest and most savage defense mechanism a broken psyche found to survive in an environment where sanity is an impossible luxury.
