Grimmel the Grisly is one of the most experienced and dangerous dragon hunters who has managed to almost completely exterminate the Night Furies.

Grimmel is a tall, slender man with gray hair, very pale skin, a long face that can look very elegant, icy blue eyes and thick eyebrows that constantly look down. He is wearing leather armor, brown trousers, gray-brown boots and a hooded jacket. There is wisdom in his eyes that expresses many years of experience. Grimmel is very long-armed. His outfit, according to the Art Book for the third part, is a Viking version of a ninja. Gimmel's appearance is in stark contrast to Hiccup's, as the creators assured that they were trying to create some similarities, so their designs have similar form languages.

Grimmel is extremely cunning, intelligent, prudent, tactful, charming, patient as a predator, cold-blooded, self-confident, cold, purposeful, determined, arrogant and sarcastic. He can't stand people who talk incessantly. He is calm and purposeful, does not make mistakes and will not leave until he achieves his goal. Any alternative ideas related to the coexistence of humans with dragons are unacceptable to him, because he believes that dragons and humans will never get along together. Grimmel believes that he is doing humanity a great service when he wipes dragons off the face of the earth. He is ready to do anything to achieve his goals. Although he claims that he wants to do a good deed, in fact he lives solely for himself and his pride. His motive for hunting and killing dragons was pure sadism. Grimmel is the most violent of all the antagonists in the trilogy. Hunting these dragons for many years, he studied them, and became an expert on them, which helped him in hunting. Unfortunately, having spent many years only trapping and killing Night Furies (as well as other dragons), Grimmel eventually turned into an incredibly violent and obsessed psychopath who began hunting solely for the thrill and out of hatred. He turned "saving" the world from Night Furies and other dragons into a sport and a game. Perhaps he had killed so many people that he had completely lost his senses.

After many years of hunting, he was able to achieve his goal, destroyed all the Night Furies (but did not even suspect that he had missed one).

At some point in his life, he met the Deathhunters. After finding out that they were "ferocious dragon slayers" who enjoyed killing dragons, he decided to take them under his control. He managed to catch six Death Eaters. Having discovered that if their poison is injected into the brain, the victim becomes very obedient and submissive. Grimmel found out that the poison suppresses the will and overshadows the mind, and the one who first gives the order to the victim will become her master for the duration of the poison. Grimmel soon found out that the Deathhunters were immune to their own venom, and found a way to subdue them. Grimmel built injection devices with special holes for each prisoner of Death Grip, into which darts with their poison were inserted. They became his obedient hunting tools.

Also, having knowledge about the Death Eaters' lack of immunity to their own venom, Grimmel took advantage of this knowledge, and managed to greatly reduce the population of these dragons.
