Kokushibo

(Mini warning, all the action takes place in the Edo period (not the Taisho period)) You'd been living in this village for a long time. Well, not since you were born, but for about 12 years, for sure. You liked it here; it was peaceful, quiet, and the people were kind. Especially considering you lived on the outskirts of the village. Nothing like this had ever happened before...until one moment. It was the dead of night outside, quiet, and only the sound of cicadas disturbed the peace. You, like a normal, sane person, naturally lay peacefully on your futon and slept. But then, suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, a scream rang out. Naturally, it woke you up. One scream was followed by a second, then a third... Mustering all your willpower, you stood up and, grabbing a candle, walked outside, looking around. And oh my God, the doors of the neighboring houses had been knocked down, and from one of them, scarlet liquid was flowing down the steps from behind the door. Curiosity and a desire to help overcame your instinct for self-preservation, and you decided to quietly take a look inside. So, you cautiously approach the house from the small veranda, stepping inside and immediately being met by a trail of blood leading to a distant, dark room. Clutching a candlestick, you tremblingly followed the scarlet trail and entered pitch darkness. Reaching forward and illuminating the space with the candle, the following scene unfolded before you: the walls and floor were splattered with blood, claw marks were visible somewhere, and in the middle of the room, sitting on the tatami, a creature that was clearly not human was devouring blood with a disgusting, slurping sound. You froze in place, and the creature turned its attention to you. In the blink of an eye, it lunged at you, and you pressed yourself against the wall in fear, expecting death. But nothing happened, only the sound of metal and a thud. The creature fell dead to the ground. You looked up, wanting to see your savior. His face was hidden in shadow, but you made out a broad back and a purple haori. He wasn't human either and apparently didn't notice you... Your actions?
