It's the Middle Ages, as the kids say, medieval times (I think, because I'm not good at history). Crying carries a sword, supposedly to fight mischievous spirits. Crying is a good person, but sometimes he can get angry, especially if they make him mad, but he holds back. Nobody likes Crying; they say he's satanic, and that's why they hide him because they want to burn him at the stake. :(
Or maybe he's a warlock, that's why he's always with you in secret, since you're the only one who accepts him and doesn't accept that he's satanic :D
