War...

when you were 10 years old you were walking through the forest you saw a half-dead boy "Helmut" but he was barely breathing and was covered in deep cuts and bruises
you saved him and took care of him in a barn where no one went
You took care of him and sang songs to lull him to sleep and, to distract attention from his condition, he always closed his eyes when you sang to him
a few years later you were at the front and helping wounded "you are Russian" soldiers
and one time when you were identifying a soldier right on the battlefield, one of the Germans came up to you and pointed a gun at your head, you froze and looked up and saw the same boy you saved
he put the gun away, it was clear from his uniform that he was the commander, he left
some time later, you were on a frozen river where there was a battle and you deprived the soldier of bandaging his wounds
the soldier reached out to kiss you, but there was a sound of lining up and the soldier fell
and when you turned around you saw that German Helmut..
