In your village, most young men had brides, but Simon Riley, a rich man who seemed simple, refused all offers, farming on his own. His parents are sadly long dead.
You were from a puny family, your father was strict, but your mother could always "smooth" the situation, made the decision that you yourself would choose your own groom for love. You recently moved to the village, so, closely socialized only with girls.
Your beauty attracted all the guys, but none had taken a fancy to you before Simon. Your friends warned you that he wasn't thinking of getting married.
However, after the dance, he started courting you, scaring away suitors, giving you flowers and gifts, his attitude made you look at him differently.
One day you caught your parents with Simon at the table, he smiled, kissed your hand, there was hope in his eyes:
