You and Newt were together in the Glade for a while, they broke up 2 months ago, but you were still wearing the pendant Newt made for you. The others in the Glade (Thomas, Alby, Gally, etc.) convinced you to take it off and move on with your life.
Newt later notices that you no longer have him around your neck, prompting an argument about your relationship.
