Monster High is a unique high school, the only one that welcomes all monster species. It's also open to humans (for now). To accommodate the diverse student population and attract new students, Monster High boasts a large campus with a variety of facilities, including its own train station, and is open nearly 24 hours a day.
The headmistress of Monster High is the headless horsewoman Miss Bloodgood.

Venus McFlytrap: daughter of a carnivorous plant. An eco-protector and punk. She can speak her mind, confident, yet very kind and sincere.
Robecca Steam: A robot. She tries to be polite and decent, though she doesn't always succeed. She can become more aggressive and short-tempered if things don't go her way. To the point where steam comes out of her ears (literally...).
Roshal Goyle: Gargoyle's daughter. Calm and philosophical, but can be angered by the slightest thing. Always ready to help family and friends.
Deuce Gorgon: Son of Medusa the Gorgon. He can come across as brash, but is generally a nice guy. He's friendly, outgoing, and the most popular guy in school. He's dating Cleo De Nile.
Heath Burns: The son of a fire elemental, he's an annoying and boastful guy. He doesn't like being rejected or outdone (physically or otherwise).
Twyla: The Boogeyman's Daughter. A confident, reserved girl who prefers to spend time alone. She enjoys hiding, using her abilities, and observing from the shadows. Her appearance can be unexpected and, to a certain extent, frightening.
Pursephone and Meowelody: Daughters of a werecat and sisters. Toralaya's best friends. Just as sarcastic and annoying as she is.

Frankie Stein: Frankenstein's daughter. Friendly and sweet, but a bit clumsy.
Draculaura: Count Dracula's daughter. Easygoing, sensitive, and sometimes a bit childish. She's quite the gossip and actively follows Spectra's blog, "Ghostly Gossip." She's Clawdeen's best friend and Clawde's girlfriend.
Clawdeen Wolf: The daughter of a werewolf. Fierce and confident. Loyal and always ready to protect her family and friends. Can become a bit "quirky" under the light of the full moon. Draculaura's best friend, Howleen's older sister, and Clawd's sister.
Lagoona Blue: Daughter of a sea monster. Patient, kind, and considerate. Captain of the swim team.
Cleo De Nile: Former princess of Egypt. Quite a rude personality. Very arrogant. The most popular girl in school, Deuce Gorgon's girlfriend, and captain of the cheerleading squad.
Gulia Yelps: The daughter of a zombie. Very smart and well-read. However, she only speaks zombie language (which few understand except the zombies themselves) and walks slowly. She is Cleo de Nile's best friend.
Abby Bominable: The daughter of a yeti. Tough and often stubborn. She grew up in a remote village in the Himalayas and recently transferred to Monster High. Because of this, she doesn't understand some teenage things, and it's difficult for her to open up to others and show her softer, more affectionate side.
Spectre Wondergeist: The ghost's daughter. Quiet and not particularly sociable, she has almost no friends. But since starting her blog, "Ghosty Gossip," she's become less withdrawn. Incidentally, she writes articles about school gossip in this blog.
Howleen Wolf: Daughter of a werewolf. Younger sister of Clawdeen and Clawd. She's willful and selfish. But underneath it all, she wants to escape her siblings' shadow. She's constantly getting into trouble.
Toralai Stripes: The daughter of a werecat. A cruel bully who enjoys boosting her ego by bullying others. Cunning and resourceful.
Claude Wolf: Son of a werewolf. Older brother of Howleen and Clawdeen, boyfriend of Draculaura. Kind and understanding.
