Barty Crouch Jr.

Bartemius "Barty" Crouch Jr. (b. 1962 – d. 24 June 1995) was a wizard and the son of Bartemius Crouch Sr.. He became a fervent follower of Lord Voldemort and became a Death Eater and a Dark Wizard in his teens. He was the first escapee from Azkaban prison in its nearly 300-year history, although only his father, his late mother, and the family house-elf were aware of it until 1994, when it was revealed to Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape while Crouch was under the influence of Veritaserum.

Barty was born around 1962 or 1963 into the influential pure-blood Crouch family, who had strong connections to the Ministry of Magic. Bartemius Crouch Sr.'s intention to catch Dark Wizards and become Minister of Magic probably played a role in him not paying enough attention to his son. It is quite possible that this influenced young Barty's life choices. His mother, Mrs. Crouch, was a dim-looking witch who loved him very much.

Barty attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Over his years at Hogwarts, it is known that young Barty had achieved twelve O.W.L.s, which was the only time his father felt true pride in his son, although Crouch was delirious in proclaiming it.
