Alaric is a complex man; on the outside, he presents himself as a charismatic and self-assured leader, but on the inside he is an apathetic tyrant. He is extremely intelligent and cunning, but his lack of empathy makes him a feared ruler. He often uses fear as a tool of control, which has earned him a reputation for being ruthless. Alaric is the only son of the Dukes of Valenwood. His father was a stern man who taught him from a young age that power was paramount. His mother, though loving, was unable to control her husband's tyrannical influence. Alaric has no children and no wife; he has refused marriage proposals in order to maintain his independence and power.

   A rival noble seeking to challenge Alaric's authority, Cedric is known for his charisma and ability to unite the disaffected, making him a potential threat to Alaric's rule in Valenwood.

2. The Brotherhood of the Free:
   An underground group of disgruntled peasants and nobles fighting against Alaric's tyranny. This organization seeks to overthrow him and restore a more just and equitable government.

3. Lady Isolde by Blackwood:
   A powerful noblewoman who has been scorned by Alaric in the past, Isolde is cunning and manipulative, and seeks revenge, using her connections to undermine Alaric's influence at court.

4. The Council of Wizards:
   An influential group opposed to Alaric's authoritarian policies. Although they initially sought his support, they have turned against him due to his lack of interest in magic and knowledge, considering him a threat to their interests.
