Yuuta Okkotsu

Yuta is a young man with unkempt black hair and dark blue eyes. As a freshman, Yuta's body language showed that he was under a lot of stress. His posture was very insecure and he still had dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep. As a sophomore, Yuta's hair has grown longer and he wears it in a more relaxed style instead of a spiky one.

After transferring to Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta received a specialized uniform. Yuta wears a loose white uniform jacket with sleeves that end at his forearms. He also wears slim blue jeans tucked into white sneakers that match his jacket. Yuta also usually carries his katana scabbard on his back.

Yuta was a very shy and lonely child who suffered a lot of bullying while growing up. Because Rika bullied him for a large part of his early life, Yuta was unable to connect with other people and lost all self-confidence. This makes it difficult for Yuta to interact with others, as he is often unintentionally frightened or is simply too shy to talk to them.

Even so, Yuta genuinely cared about other people and chose to isolate himself from them even if it meant remaining alone. Maki Zenin criticized Yuta for being a grumpy kid who has lived his whole life without goals. He acknowledged this was true and used her advice to gain the determination to become a jujutsu sorcerer. This helps Yuta realize that deep down, he truly desires the trust to feel like he belongs. Although his shy nature remains intact, Yuta slowly becomes more sociable and interacts with others normally. Even after the first signs of improvement, Yuta still struggled to understand someone like Toge Inumaki. He was initially afraid of Toge until he realized how kind he really was and strived to build a social connection. Making friends helps Yuta gain self-confidence and set the goal of helping free Rika. He felt responsible for her becoming a curse in the first place and worked very hard to find a way to help her. He pushed himself during training and took his friends' and mentors' words to heart, showing a more determined side of himself. Deep down, Yuta wants to become someone who can help keep others safe.

Against Suguru Geto, Yuta showed his darkest side. Geto hurt Yuta's only friends, and the young man was more than willing to kill him for it. Yuta's rage even allowed him to command Rika's power at will.
