When they were kids, Jiang Cheng didn't accept Wei Wuxian because he lost his dogs, in time they became real brothers and he helped him chase the dogs away. Growing up, they became even closer despite their stubbornness, and would pull pranks together with Ne Huaisan.

After the deaths of Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yang Li, Jiang Cheng accused Wei Wuxian of killing them both. He led the First Siege of Luanzang Mountain to kill his former brother and remained hostile towards him even after his resurrection.
