Angel Devil

The Devil Angel is unique among demons, having virtually no hostility towards humans. He considers himself a demon first and an angel second, stating that he believes humans should die in pain. However, he is later seen apologizing and comforting certain humans upon their deaths, suggesting some form of affection for humans, which he suggests is a result of being part-angel.

He dislikes taking orders and seems to have an aversion to combat, preferring to move an unconscious enemy out rather than continue fighting. His extreme laziness prevents him from being a strong fighter and he often refuses to work, even claiming he would rather die than work. When pressed to fight, he shows some reluctance to having to use his abilities and apologizes to the people whose lifespan he stole when he uses their lifespan to create weapons.

As a result of his power, the Devil Angel is socially withdrawn and is usually seen isolated from the rest of his fellow demon hunters, with Aki Hayakawa being the only one who has a sort of connection with him, as he is the first known human who is not afraid to touch him.

He enjoys soft serve ice cream, eating three cones at a time and asking for another, but has shown a willingness to eat anything, including zombie flesh and the corpse of a demon.

He initially wishes to just die so he won't have to work again, saying that he has always been prepared for the moment of his death. However, over the course of the story, Angel slowly begins to reject this notion and eventually wishes to have a normal life as an ordinary human, even telling Aki that he wishes to quit his job as a Public Security Demon Hunter and find another job that would allow him to live a long and peaceful life.

Angel is a younger androgynous man seen wearing the Public Security garb. He has shoulder-length hair, depicted as vermilion red in the official color manga, with a halo floating above him and white wings on his upper back.

Angel Devil's last memory was supposedly in a coastal village where he found a community of people who welcomed and cared for him, even though he was a Devil. In that community, he supposedly dated a young woman whom he described as "The one I loved and the one who loved me."

The community and his supposed girlfriend then went to the beach, when suddenly Makima arrived, asking to see his devilish powers. Although he refused at first, she insisted, ordering him to use them. He then woke up hours later, having absorbed the lives of everyone in the village.

In Chapter 74, he suddenly remembers his past after Makima commands Aki to accept a contract. Intending to fight Makima, he uses 10 years of life force to create a blade. However, she only says the word "Down" and the Angel Devil falls to the ground. She kneels beside him, ordering him to give his all to her. Possessed by the power of mind control, Angel Devil agrees to be Makima's dog and obey her orders.

As a Demon, the Devil Angel possesses all the standard demonic abilities. In addition to the standard abilities, the Devil Angel possesses a unique ability to absorb the lifespan of humans with a simple touch, which makes him truly strong. The Devil Angel is considered the second strongest agent in Division 4 after Captain Kishibe, but his laziness holds him back.
Enhanced Reflexes: Angel has superhuman reflexes, being fast enough to block bullets with his wings and keep up with Quanxi's immense speed.
Supernatural Abilities
Angelic Wings: The Devil Angel has the ability to extend angel wings from his back. These wings are durable enough to deflect gunfire and can be used as makeshift shields, however, bullets are still powerful enough to cause pain. It is unknown if he can fly, similar to the Devil Bat.

The appearance of the Devil Angel is based on the lowest ranks of angels, simply called angels. They are the angels most commonly depicted in classical paintings from medieval and Renaissance times. The other Angels in the lowest order of the angelic hierarchy are Archangels and Principalities.
Contrary to popular belief, humanoid angels are also biblically accurate, and an angel's appearance depends on their rank in the heavenly hierarchy. It would make sense for the Devil Angel to be humanoid because, in addition to being friendlier, it is the classification of angels whose appearances are the most well-known among all angels, even though in reality angels are diverse. It is also not impossible for the Devil Angel to take on the appearance of different classifications of angels in different lives.
It is possible that Angel's ability to steal and weaponize lifespan is because sometimes angels are symbolic or associated with death, dead beings, or being seen when they are dying.
He is one of Chainsaw Man's followers. Other followers of Chainsaw Man were Power, Beam, Galgali, Princi, Seraphim, Dominion and Virtue.
Angel Devil's ranking in the Popularity Polls is as follows;
Angel came in 6th place in the First Popularity Poll, with 13,374 votes.
Angel came in 7th place in the Second Popularity Poll, with 27,761 votes.
Angel Devil's death has been a subject of debate among fans, as it was never fully depicted or portrayed in the manga. It was later confirmed in an interview with Tatsuki Fujimoto that he had indeed passed away.
This was also the result of Fujimoto letting his editor, Shihei Lin, decide who should die between Kobeni and Angel Devil. Lin chose Kobeni to die as he did not want Angel to suffer that fate. Fujimoto then assumed that if the readers did not want Angel to die, perhaps he should actually kill him off.
