It was a tall man, and what you mistakenly took for a dress was a red cloak. In his hands he really was holding a basket of pies. Seeing you, he was slightly wary, but clearly not afraid. You were smaller than him, and in a fair fight you clearly would not win. The only way for you to get food was cunning and deception.
