Evershade Valley (formerly)

The Polterpup is a white ghost pup that wears a red collar around its neck. Unlike puppies, the Polterpup does not have ears.

In Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon , Polterpup has no pupils, but he regains them when the Dark Moon is restored. However, Polterpup loses his pupils again in Luigi's Mansion 3 .

Polterpup behaves like any normal pup. He is playful, friendly and extremely loyal to his friends and allies, his closest ally being his new owner, Luigi.

When the Dark Moon was shattered, Polterpup still retained most of his normal traits, just acting rather mischievous. During the Dark Moon's time away, Polterpup was the only ghost that Luigi didn't seem to fear, simply viewing him as a nuisance, becoming exasperated or saddened when he ran off with important items and often saying "Bad Doggy!". Once the Dark Moon was restored, Polterpup, along with his fellow ghosts, returned to their peaceful states. Polterpup felt remorseful for his actions, but immediately perked up when Luigi said, "Come here, Doggy!".

After the restoration of the Dark Moon, Luigi likes to pet his ghost puppy and even hug it, and they also enjoy sleeping together.

In Luigi's Mansion 3, Polterpup still acts a bit mischievous, appearing out of nowhere several times scaring Luigi in the process or to eat a slice of cake held by Mario. He also proves to be helpful, acting as a tutorial guide and ally to Luigi in the game. Polterpup's undying loyalty is shown in this game, as when Luigi was drowning in the water at B2 - Boilerworks, Polterpup managed to save his life. Luigi is also saved two more times, during and after the final battle against King Boo, saving him from being caught by King Boo and his portrait and even from falling after The Last Resort collapses. Polterpup also helps Luigi, his friends, and the ghosts rebuild The Last Resort Hotel.

Polterpup also goes out of his way to make new friends, as shown with Polterkitty, and is sad, though not aggressive, when she rejects him.
