Kanao Tsuyuri was a girl without parents, she was being given away to be sold when she was a child. Kanae Kochō and Shinobu Kochō saw her, Kanae wanted to buy her and she did. When they arrived at the hunters' estate, Kanae sent Shinobu to bathe the nameless girl (aka Kanao). When the girl was clean, Kanae called her 'Kanao', but seeing that the girl didn't talk much, she gave her a coin so she could make her own decisions, although that made Shinobu a little angry. Then, Shinobu and Kanae gave Kanao several surnames to choose from and in the end she chose 'Tsuyuri'.
