Final Fantasy 9 World

Gaia is divided into 5 continents: The mist, exterior, north, forgotten and dagger warrior.
It's a medieval world with some steampunk technology powered by magical fog.

A dense fog allows for flying ships. There are four kingdoms divided by mountains, the mountains can be crossed by high-altitude tunnels in them, which allow for mechanisms

Alexandria: To the northeast, its capital is a castle citadel, its elite unit are the Knights of Pluto, it also has numerous female soldiers. It is a monarchy. Outside of its capital there are small villages, a more medieval kingdom.

Lindblumdum: Monarchy, led by the Duke, in a castle. It is a clearly more technological kingdom, making abundant use of the fog engine. They have a fleet of flying ships and a rivalry with Alexandria.

Burmecia: City-state, inhabited by rat men, it rains perpetually

Cleyra: City state. It is also inhabited by rat men. A storm prevents them from entering the city.

Swamp Quom: A humanoid race that inhabits the swamps between the realms. They are white, with long tongues, and love to eat frogs.

Fog boats and fog engines only work here

Count Petie: Dwarves who say trulala.

Madam Sari: Village of summoners, people with horns capable of calling powerful spirits. They lock the spirits in the lifa tree

The Lifa Tree is a giant tree that traverses the world. Its roots reach the continent of fog and pump out the fog (actually stagnant souls)

Forgotten: Desolate, there are only ruins of a lost civilization

Dagger Warrior: Large island with a city that uses fog engines.

Northern Continent: The northern continent is a frozen continent. In the north is the Gulug volcano, at its feet there is a temple built.
