Shinji

Shinji is a complex and multi-layered individual. He appears somewhat passive, outwardly polite, but melancholic. He tends to view himself as less important and deserving of respect than other people. Perhaps as a result of this self-loathing or devaluation (combined with the likely fact that he had little contact with anyone during his time with his "teacher"), Shinji feels a significant or complete distance from people, believing that he cannot communicate with anyone and that no one can understand him.
