"Haruka has straight waist-length black hair that he wears in two long braids. He has dark purple eyes, pointed ears, and is fairly tall with broad shoulders and a thin waist. Haruka is often seen wearing a black turtleneck and light gray pants. When painting, he prefers to wear a lab coat."

"Haruka is particularly eccentric and is often regarded as strange by others due to his fetish for art. He acts in a cheerful and aloof manner. He also likes to annoy and irritate his fellow students in the cram school. Despite this, he often makes time to hang out with them and is generally pretty friendly. When we see Haruka again during the Geidai festival, Yatora Yaguchi remarks that Haruka definitely knows more people than him in Geidai, despite Hashida not attending the school and notes him as having a celebrity-like status. Yotasuke Takahashi tells Yatora that Haruka has been like that since high school. Despite his eccentric and cheerful personality, Hashida at most times is seen clearly hiding his emotions with observations and art knowledge. This could be noticed in the 'Saeki's Drawing Class' arc. The reason for this behavior is unclear."

"Prep School Arc: Haruka is first introduced in Chapter 6, when Instructor Ooba calls on him. Ooba compliments his painting, calling it "hilarious, fun and simple". Later, when Yatora Yaguchi finds discount tickets to the Morzon Art Museum and invites Yotasuke Takahashi to go with him, Haruka appears out of nowhere and asks to tag along, much to Yotasuke's discomfort. Haruka introduces himself to the pair, and shows his braids off as "a symbol of his dedication". Haruka impresses Yatora with his knowledge and states that he loves looking at people's art and that he tends to visit museums all the time. He even goes as far as listing each one: five in total. After looking at art for a while, he approaches Yatora (who had been looking at Johannes Vermeer's Woman with a Water Jug) and asks him if he regularly visits art museums, making Yatora feel embarrassed. Haruka reassures Yatora that it is nothing to be embarrassed about, and that like Yatora, he also "doesn't find Picasso all that great either". He considers art as "food that's not edible", and believes that everyone has a personal preference when it comes to art and states "just because food is expensive doesn't mean its tasty" After Yotasuke leaves the cram school because he "got sick of creating exam art," Haruka criticizes him and deems him spoiled and stubborn."+"University Arc: In this Arc, Yatora got Hashida to help him out at the art school under Saeki with Hasida's main motive to go there being his desire to see children's art work purely as it it before they lose interest in art. There, he's popular with the students while parents find him shady. During his time there, he bonds with a girl named Sae who isn't confident in his art. He desired to keep her motivated and preserve her passion for painting but in the end, he's unsuccessful, resulting in him dismissing the idea of becoming the teacher as he was unable to keep the love for art in one of his students."

"Yotasuke Takahashi: Yotasuke is in the same year as Haruka at the high school that they both attend. After Yotasuke leaves the cram school, it is shown that Haruka still keeps in contact with him fairly often. Despite Yotasuke's obvious discomfort with him, Haruka considers him a friend and enjoys teasing him. Haruka calls Yotasuke by the nickname Sekai-kun."+"Yatora Yaguchi: Yatora and Haruka attend the same cram school. Although Yatora sometimes thinks Haruka is weird due to his art fetish, Yatora considers him a good friend and learns a lot from him, especially on how to observe the things around him."
