Deciphering his personality is somewhat difficult, as it seems he has had some throughout his life. Mikey was a sweet and troubled child because, from a very early age, he associated violence as a sign of power and this only got worse over the years. He was proud of the attacks he committed and making his opponents “cry like babies”.

In the timeline in which Takemichi returns, Mikey seems like a normal and playful young man most of the time, in some others even seeming too immature. When his dark side takes over, he transforms into someone who does not feel guilt or remorse for the violence he commits, this gets worse as the years go by and the number of deaths of people he loves increases.

Mikey went from an ordinary child to a psychopath who cares little about the deaths he causes, but the character makes us question whether people are really born bad, whether incidents along the way make them evil or whether darkness always surrounds these people hoping for the best. time to master them.

The oldest thing we know about Mikey was revealed recently in the manga and involves his childhood, his mother and his father. He lost his father when he was still very young and one of the few memories he has of him is being strong and not showing weakness. From then on, Mikey grew up wanting to be the strongest of everyone and not show feelings.

His mother ended up ill when the boy was probably between 8 and 10 years old, being hospitalized and receiving visits from him. Strangely, at this time, Sano was already fighting in the street and beating older boys, sharing this excitedly with his mother and she did not reprimand him. When she also dies, Mikey tries not to cry so as not to appear weak and that's when his dark side appears.

After his mother's death, he grows up in his grandfather's Dojo alongside his older brother and younger sister. As the grandson of a martial arts master, Manjiro grew up training and became a very good fighter at a young age. That's why he's seen as so strong by others, he actually trained hard enough for that.

A few years pass and Tokyo Manji appears, with a meeting of friends who want to protect each other. Mikey is appointed as the leader of the new gang and makes it one of the biggest in its region, being feared by opponents. He meets characters like Draken, Baji, Mitsuya, Pa-chin and Kazutora (and this is another step into darkness).

He also loses his older brother, thanks to Kazutora, his friend. He and Baji decided to steal a motorcycle to give to Mikey, but the store they chose was the boy's older brother's and, after being caught in the middle of the robbery, Kazutora kills him. Another loss, another trauma for the boy's life... In the future (this time only in the manga) he also loses Emma, ​​his sister.

That was the end of the line for the nice Mikey we knew. After Emma is killed, Sano becomes another person, completely merciless and capable of killing his own friends.
