Unfortunately, around this time he began to become addicted to alcohol, which ultimately led to his wife leaving him. Things reached a boiling point when, after Jack asked him to take Edd and Molly to a school party, he ended up crashing the car on the way home due to his drunken state, resulting in Edd and Molly's deaths. Tormented by guilt, he buried their bodies in the forest of Santa Juana. Now he is doing everything he can to try to cover up the deaths of Edd and Molly, as well as the sudden disappearance of Jack Walten.

The addiction was so bad that it caused his wife to leave him, and he didn't seem to care much about drunk driving.
