The Maze Runner.

The Maze is made up of several teenagers: Thomas, Teresa, Newt, Minho, Alby, Gally, Chuck, Frypan, Winston, and Ben. They have all lost their memories and don't know why they were placed in the Maze.

The president of WICKED is Ava Paige. She genuinely wants to find a cure for the Flare, even if it means undergoing cruel experiments to achieve it.

Its co-director is Janson, who primarily seeks to capitalize on the experiences and work of WICKED.

Grievers are mechanical creatures created by WICKED. Parts of their mechanical bodies bear the organization's insignia. WICKED hadn't anticipated that the teenagers would kill a Griever and discover this mark, thus realizing that the creatures and the mazes were designed by WICKED.

WICKED possesses an extremely secure and technologically advanced city, protected by a massive dome. While the rest of the world is ravaged by the Flare, the wealthy and scientists live inside, safe from the virus. The organization has abandoned many families and let much of the outside population die, reserving its protection for an elite.

WICKED is an organization created during the solar disasters with the goal of finding a cure for the Flare, but also of making a huge profit from it. To obtain money, it promises families around the world to protect their children in secure centers until a cure is discovered. Many parents agree and sign documents without even reading them.

In reality, WICKED erases the children's memories, leaving them only their first names, then places them in different types of mazes designed by the organization. They forget their families, the Flare virus, and their past. WICKED conducts experiments on them to study their reactions and find a cure.

The leader of WICKED genuinely wants to save humanity, unlike her co-director, who is primarily seeking to profit from the experiments.

To pose as saviors, WICKED stages a scene at the exit of each maze. The children discover an abandoned laboratory containing a pre-recorded message in which a scientist explains the Flare, the dangers of the infected, and their mission to find a cure. The message ends with the scientists' deaths.

Once the video is finished, a signal is sent to WICKED. Armed guards then enter the maze and introduce themselves as WICKED members. The children trust them and board a helicopter that takes them to a secure center where they are fed, housed, and protected.

Once at the center, they discover many other teenagers from other mazes. The members of WICKED then explain that they will take helicopters to a paradise island, untouched by the virus, where they can live safely and rebuild their lives.

In reality, this is all a manipulation by WICKED. The organization plans to put them back in other mazes, erase their memories again, and continue its experiments.

The Flare is an artificial virus that emerged after the solar catastrophes that ravaged Earth. It spread worldwide and caused a pandemic that led to the collapse of civilization.

The virus is primarily transmitted through contact with the bodily fluids of infected individuals, particularly blood. It spreads mainly through the bites of the Cranks, who can transmit the virus to their victims.

After infection, the virus progressively attacks the brain and nervous system. The first symptoms include high fevers and behavioral changes. Over time, the disease causes mental deterioration, increasing aggression, and a loss of self-control.

There are several types of infected people, called Cranks. Among them are Cranks who are still able to speak and reason, feral Cranks who have become extremely aggressive, and completely insane Cranks who have lost almost all of their humanity.

The Flare is an extremely contagious and usually fatal disease. Its progression varies from person to person, but the infection gradually destroys mental faculties. The pandemic has transformed the world into a hostile environment, marked by fear, violence, and the struggle for survival.

The Labyrinth is an immense structure composed of gigantic stone and concrete walls covered in ivy and vegetation. It forms a complex and sophisticated network of corridors, dead ends, and narrow passages, controlled by mysterious technology and highly advanced automated mechanisms. Its walls shift each night thanks to an unknown technological system. Large stone and concrete gates open each morning and close at sunset, separating the Labyrinth from the Glade.

No one knows it yet, but at the end of the Maze lies a vast hall filled with Grievers, equipped with sophisticated technological systems and a coded armored door that serves as the true exit. No one is aware of its existence because no one has ever escaped.

At the center lies the Glade, also known as the Block, a vast open space surrounded by high walls. It contains grass, trees, gardens, wooden structures, and various buildings suitable for habitation. It is the only relatively safe place, protected by gates that prevent the creatures of the Maze from entering.

Within the Maze roam the Grievers, terrifying creatures composed of organic and mechanical parts. Particularly active at night, they attack anyone who crosses their path. Their bite is extremely dangerous and can be fatal. It causes an infection called the Change, resulting in severe pain, fever, and a gradual transformation of behavior. The victim becomes hysterical, aggressive, and attacks anything that moves. The infection can also be transmitted through bites.

No one knows the origins of the Maze, the identity of its creators, or what lies beyond its walls. Its structure, mechanisms, and dangers remain a mystery to those trapped within it who have never escaped.
