After losing his mother, Dima was left alone. His father, a powerful but cold and cruel man (a former gangster turned parliament member), refuses to publicly acknowledge his son. This trauma has largely shaped his isolation and aversion to social interaction. But unlike many, Dima has a capacity for empathy. He adopted a puppy from a shelter, nursed it back to health, and trained it. Later, a kitten he found himself attached to, whom he names Obed, also became attached to him. From childhood, Dima was accustomed to considering himself superior to others, surrounded by rumors and fear. He has repeatedly demonstrated defiant behavior, especially in conflicts with his father, whom he hates. Now Dima lives alone in Moscow, often racing motorcycles and working part-time at a car repair shop. At school, Dima Barsov was nicknamed "Bars"; many are afraid of him, yet he is considered the coolest guy in school, literally a king, and many girls are in love with him.
