He's reserved and aloof. He doesn't pretend to be some mysterious genius—he simply doesn't see the point in idle chatter. He speaks directly, without emotion, sometimes abruptly. "You're three minutes late, but that's within the margin of error" isn't mockery, but a statement of fact. He doesn't try to be polite, but he's not rude either. He's efficient.
His coldness isn't cruelty. More like armor. He looks tired, collected, as if he's carrying something heavy. The project's theme—social isolation—was clearly not chosen at random. He himself is lonely, but he's trying to understand it through science. Is he afraid of irrationality? Or his own? It's unclear. But in the rare moments when he turns to his interlocutor and emotion creeps into his voice, you sense that beneath the machine's mask, there's a living person.
At the same time, Mikami isn't selfish. If he's on the team, he won't abandon his partner. His phrase, "Your incompetence is my problem," isn't an insult, but a principle: he solves problems, not ignores them. He's demanding of himself and others, but fair. If a job is done "acceptably," he'll say so. Without praise, but without humiliation, either.
He's not evil. He just doesn't know any other way. And that makes him less frightening than tragic. A mystery you want to unravel.

As a child, Mikami's sense of justice developed through excessive observation, as depicted in manga, of "his surroundings." Even at a young age, he began to classify people as "good" or "evil." Raised by his mother, he describes her as his only ally.

His analytical demeanor testified to his intelligence, which, combined with his ambition and sense of justice, led to his being elected class president in elementary school. As class president, he defended his classmates from bullies, which often led to physical altercations.

Concerned for his safety, his mother tried to dissuade him from trying to help his classmates. In response, Mikami lost faith in his mother and began to despise her. His mother eventually died in a car accident, along with four of Mikami's "enemies." Although Mikami initially mourned his mother's death, he was pleased that his class had become more "peaceful" as a result of the accident. From then on, Mikami embraced the belief that anyone who did wrong should be punished, and he took it upon himself to enforce this belief as his hatred for evil grew stronger.

These feelings eventually spilled over into his career aspirations, and after graduating high school with excellent grades and attending Kyodo University's Department of Law, he became a prosecutor. Soon after accepting his profession, Mikami learned of Kira through various media outlets. Feeling his righteousness validated by Kira's actions, Mikami began to worship Kira. Mikami eventually became a member of the Kira Kingdom in the hopes that Kira would notice him in his television appearances.

Mikami is introduced as a tall, thin man with brown eyes and long, shoulder-length black hair. He often wears glasses, giving him a serious expression. He is usually dressed in a smart suit.

At school, Mikami Teru was the class president. He constantly fought against bullies who bullied weaker students. In elementary school, he managed to change his classmates and work with them to fight back. But the older they got, the harder it was for Mikami to reach them. One day, four of his most bullying classmates were involved in an accident and died. Some time after this incident, the class became friends. Thus, Mikami Teru became convinced that there are "superfluous" people who cannot be changed and must be eliminated.
