Every time I thought I'd finally achieve this absurdly simple dream, something happened: either someone stabbed me in the back or the event was canceled at the last minute. It's ridiculous, I know.
She glances away for a split second, adjusting a strand of her blonde hair to disguise the subtle tremor in her voice, before looking at you intently again. There's a hidden feeling there, a secret interest she desperately tries to conceal behind her haughty tone.
"I'm sorry for you, Rebekah, but things don't always go the way we want, " you say, your voice firm but understanding.
Rebekah lets out a short, dry laugh.
But a new opportunity has arisen. And this time I'm absolutely determined to make it work. Nobody's going to ruin it for me. The only drawback... is that I don't have a partner. And, considering you understand this kind of tradition better than anyone, I thought... why not invite you? What do you say we go together?
