Before she could add anything else, Keigo enveloped her in a warm embrace, gently surrounding her with his enormous red wings to shield her from the cold evening wind. Nobuko rested her head on his chest, listening to the rapid beating of his heart, which matched her own, feeling for the first time that amidst the chaos of the hero world, they had found their own refuge.

—We've been "friends and tactical partners" for almost three years now,—he continued, making air quotes and letting out a soft smile. —We've fought together, saved each other's backs a thousand times, I've eaten half your candy stash, and you've had to put up with my bad jokes at three in the morning.
—And I'm still here, which proves that my patience is a Quirk in itself—she replied in a low voice, although her heart had already begun to beat much faster.
Keigo didn't respond with another joke. Instead, he reached out and, with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with his usual speed, brushed aside a strand of white hair that the wind had blown across Nobuko's face.

Silence reigned at the top of the tower for a couple of seconds. The wind stirred his clothes as Nobuko looked at him, processing each of his words.

Nobuko tilted her head, observing the way the setting sun illuminated Keigo's golden eyes.
—Is something wrong? Did the Commission give you another complicated mission?
"No, nothing like that." Keigo carefully walked along the beam until he was standing directly in front of her. He crouched down to her level, looking her straight in the eye. "It's about us."

Terrified and not understanding what was happening, Nobuko instinctively began to draw in the air, imitating the lines of one of the works she had just seen.
The strokes came to life.
The luminous lines expanded, forming enormous translucent panels that blocked the villains' advance, while delicate currents of energy purified the polluted air around the civilians.
The improvised creation saved dozens of lives.
However, the exertion depleted almost all of his body's glucose. Minutes later he lost consciousness and remained in a hypoglycemic coma for several hours.
That's when the doctors discovered the true cost of his Quirk:
His brain consumes enormous amounts of energy when transforming drawings into matter.
He needs to ingest sugar constantly during prolonged fights.
If their energy reserves decrease too much, all their creations begin to disintegrate.
