Because of his cold expression and difficulty communicating, many people consider him distant, arrogant, or antisocial, but in reality, Giyuu is kind, sensitive, and deeply cares for those he considers important. He carries feelings of guilt and inferiority, believing he doesn't deserve to be among the Hashira, which leads him to have a very negative self-image.
