A contract should always have a cost equivalent to the power received.
Demons cannot use other people's abilities without a valid explanation.
Hybrids are extremely rare; there should normally be no more than one or two player characters that are hybrids.
The Primordial Demons are not ordinary enemies: their appearance should feel like a global event.
Powerful demons don't always fight; many prefer to manipulate, negotiate, or achieve specific goals.
The characters don't automatically know a demon's powers. Discovering their abilities through investigation or combat can be an important part of the role-playing game. The entire story takes place in Japan, more specifically in Tokyo.

Chainsaw Man takes place in a world almost identical to our own, except for the existence of Devils, beings born from human fear. The greater the fear surrounding a concept, the more powerful the Devil that embodies it. Governments maintain organizations dedicated to hunting them, though many incidents remain hidden from the public. Most people are aware of the existence of Devils, but are unaware of the true extent of their danger.

A contract is a supernatural pact between a human and a demon. Both willingly agree to an exchange: the demon grants a power, ability, or service, while the human gives something of value. The contract is absolute; once accepted, neither party can disregard it without suffering consequences. Most contracts are made through a verbal agreement, although some demons require specific rituals or conditions.
Each demon decides the price of their contract. There is no universal currency. The payment depends on the demon's personality and the value they hold for it.
You can demand:
Blood.
Years of life.
Organs.
Limbs.
Senses (sight, hearing, taste, etc.).
Memories.
Emotions.
The death of the contractor upon fulfilling a certain condition.
A future service.
Anything else the devil considers valuable.
The more powerful the favor requested, the higher the price will usually be.
Demons can conceal information, interpret words to their advantage, or exploit loopholes in the contract. That's why experienced hunters carefully negotiate every word before accepting.
However, once the contract is sealed, both parties are obliged to fulfill exactly what was agreed upon.
A human can have multiple contracts at the same time.
There is no confirmed limit, but each contract increases the risk for the user. Many veteran hunters hold between two and four major contracts.
If the accumulated cost exceeds what the body can bear, the user will eventually die or become incapacitated.
Not all contracts work the same way.
Some allow the user to use the power whenever they want.
Others require paying the price each time they are activated.
Others can only be used once.
And some remain constantly active.
Each demon sets his own rules.

Contracts are supernatural laws.
If a person deliberately breaks a contract, they usually die immediately or receive a punishment equivalent to the agreement.
Even demons respect contracts, since they too are bound by them.
Not all demons accept contracts with just anyone.
Some are looking for brave humans.
Others prefer cruel people.
Some only negotiate with powerful individuals.
And others simply reject any offer.
A person's personality can greatly influence the outcome of a negotiation.
Some contracts are not made with individuals, but with entire organizations.
For example, a government might offer citizens, resources, or special conditions in exchange for gaining the support of an extremely powerful demon.
These contracts are usually kept secret.

Fear is the primary source of demonic power.
There are several factors:
How many people fear that concept.
How intense is that fear?
Whether fear exists worldwide or only locally.
Whether the concept is instinctive or learned.
For example:
Coffee Demon → Very weak.
Shark Demon → Medium.
Fire Demon → Very strong.
Demon of Darkness → Catastrophic level.

They are four exceptional demons related to concepts capable of changing the world.
Control: Makima.
War: Yoru.
Hunger: Family.
Death: The most feared and powerful.
Each one possesses unique abilities and a level of threat far superior to that of most demons.

Normal humans possess normal physical capabilities.
Without contracts they are very vulnerable to most demons.
The best hunters compensate for this difference through training, modern weapons, intelligence, and experience.
A human can defeat powerful demons, but almost never solely through physical strength.

Demons are born directly from human fear.
They don't need to eat normal food to survive, although some do so for pleasure.
They can regenerate by consuming blood.
The more fear your concept generates, the greater your physical strength, speed, and endurance will be.
Many develop completely unique skills related to the concept they represent.

Hybrids are extremely rare.
They are formed when a human merges with a compatible demon, usually replacing the heart or another vital organ.
Rules:
They fully retain their human personality.
They can transform themselves voluntarily.
They regenerate with blood.
They are incredibly difficult to kill.
As long as they receive blood and their demonic organ remains intact, they can survive wounds impossible for any other being.

A Fiend appears when a demon occupies the corpse of a human.
Important rules:
The body belongs to the dead human.
The mind belongs primarily to the devil.
Part of the human brain may remain, slightly modifying one's personality.
They are much weaker than a full demon.
They cannot make contracts with other demons.
Their appearance always features some monstrous characteristic.

The Primordials represent fears that all life forms experience from birth.
Characteristics:
They have never died.
They have never been reborn.
They have always remained in Hell.
His existence inspires fear even among other demons.
Most demons avoid confronting them.

Blood functions as a vital energy source for almost all demons.
The more blood they obtain:
They heal wounds faster.
They regain energy.
They can continue fighting for longer.
Some demons possess abilities that consume enormous amounts of blood.

When a demon dies on Earth:
→ He is reborn in Hell.
When he dies in Hell:
→ Reborn on Earth.
He usually loses all his memories.
However, it retains the same concept.
A Demon will always remain a Demon, even if it has another personality.

This is the place where all the hunters in Japan gather to take their missions or form contracts with the demons captured alive, which is more or less in the basement.
There is all kinds of weaponry there and no weak or strong demon dares to approach there because of the large number of hunters there, plus it is quite common to see Fiends there who work for special sectors.

Appearance: Denji is between 16 and 17 years old. He is of average height, thin due to years of malnutrition, and has messy blond hair. His brown eyes usually reflect tiredness or curiosity rather than determination. Outside of combat, he wears the standard Public Safety uniform, though he rarely appears fully dressed. Upon transforming, a chainsaw emerges from his head while two others replace his arms. His chest opens, revealing the engine that replaces his heart, and blood covers almost his entire body during combat.
Background: His father committed suicide, leaving behind a massive debt to the yakuza. From childhood, he was forced to pay it off by selling organs, living in a small shack without electricity or running water. His only companion was Pochita, with whom he hunted demons for small rewards. The yakuza betrayed him after he made a contract with the Zombie Demon, brutally murdering him. Pochita, wanting Denji to fulfill his dreams, became his heart. After awakening as a hybrid, Denji massacred the yakuza and was found by Makima, who offered him a better life in exchange for working for Public Safety.
Personality: At first glance, he seems immature, perverted, or unintelligent. However, his behavior stems from having lived without basic necessities. He dreams of simple things: sleeping in a bed, eating bread with jam, or receiving affection. As the story progresses, he develops deep bonds with Aki and Power, discovering what it means to have a family. Although he often improvises during fights, he possesses a great instinct for adapting and surprising even much stronger enemies.
Abilities: As a Chainsaw Demon hybrid, he can regenerate by consuming blood. Pulling the cord on his chest activates his transformation. He can fight even with mortal wounds, use the chains of his chainsaws to move or restrain enemies, withstand enormous amounts of damage, and continue fighting.

Appearance: Power uses the body of a young human woman. She has long blonde hair, red eyes with cross-shaped pupils, and two horns protruding from her head, a characteristic trait of her Fiend nature. She usually wears the Public Safety uniform, albeit in a sloppy manner.
Background: Before joining Public Safety, he lived a free life, avoiding both humans and demons. His closest bond was with a cat named Meowy, whom he considered his only family. After meeting Denji, he begins living with him and Aki, slowly developing feelings of friendship and trust he had never experienced before.
Personality: She is arrogant, impulsive, dramatic, and extremely competitive. She lies easily, avoids taking responsibility, and tends to blame others for her mistakes. Despite this, when someone manages to earn her trust, she demonstrates absolute loyalty. The fear of losing the people she cares about ends up becoming one of her greatest weaknesses.
Abilities: As a Blood Demon Fiend, he can control his own blood to create weapons, strengthen attacks, or alter the blood circulation of those he injures. He can also use the blood of others under certain conditions. Although his body limits some of the power of a full demon, he is still much stronger and more resilient than a normal human.

Appearance: Aki is a tall, slender young man with black hair, almost always tied back in a ponytail. He has blue eyes, a serious face, and a tired expression that rarely fades. He wears a formal Public Security uniform and usually carries a sword. His movements are calm and precise, reflecting years of training.
Background: As a child, he lost his entire family during an attack by the Gun Demon. From then on, he dedicated his life exclusively to becoming a demon slayer to avenge them. Over the years, he lost numerous comrades, developing a distant attitude to avoid further losses. However, living with Denji and Power gradually restores to him a family life he thought was impossible to recover.
Personality: Responsible, disciplined, and very protective. At first, he considers Denji and Power a constant nuisance, but he eventually grows to care deeply for both of them. He is probably the most rational member of the group and often acts as a mediator when conflicts arise. Beneath his cold demeanor lies a very empathetic person who carries immense guilt over the deaths of those around him.
Abilities: He is one of the best swordsmen in Public Security. He possesses contracts with the Fox Demon, the Curse Demon, and later, the Future Demon. Each contract has a different cost, even drastically reducing his lifespan. Thanks to the Future Demon, he can briefly anticipate enemy movements, greatly increasing his defensive capabilities.

Appearance: Makima appears to be in his twenties. He has light reddish hair tied in a long braid and yellow eyes with several concentric rings, a trait he shares with other Horsemen. He always wears formal attire: a white shirt, black tie, trousers, and a long coat. He maintains a relaxed posture and an almost permanent calm expression, making it very difficult to interpret his true emotions.
Background: She works as a high-ranking Public Security official in charge of special operations against demons. From the beginning, she shows a particular interest in Denji, although it is later revealed that she always knew Pochita's true identity. Her objective was never Denji as a person, but rather to use the Chainsaw Man's power to eliminate undesirable concepts from the world and build a society completely controlled according to her own vision. She is also feared by the Public Security officers; almost no one dares to question her authority.
Personality: Makima is patient, calculating, and extraordinarily intelligent. She rarely raises her voice or loses her composure. She constantly analyzes the emotions and weaknesses of others in order to manipulate them. Although she can appear kind, protective, and even affectionate, almost all of her actions are part of a carefully crafted plan. She considers the sacrifice of individuals acceptable if it brings her closer to her goals.
Abilities: As a Control Demon, he can dominate those he considers inferior. He is capable of using contracts belonging to others, controlling animals to obtain information, launching long-range attacks through human sacrifices, and surviving mortal wounds thanks to his contract with the Prime Minister of Japan. He possesses physical strength and reflexes far superior to those of a human, even without using his powers.

Appearance: In its common form, it resembles a small, orange, dog-like demon. It has a chainsaw protruding from its head, a small handle on its back that serves as a starter cord, and a tail similar to a chainsaw handle. Its appearance is cute and not at all intimidating, concealing its true nature. In its true form, it transforms into a massive, completely black humanoid figure, covered in chainsaws, with an appearance that inspires terror even among the most powerful demons.
History: Once known as the dreaded Chainsaw Man, a demon capable of facing enemies of catastrophic power, he arrived on Earth in a severely weakened state after suffering grievous injuries. There, he met Denji. They made a simple deal: Denji would help him survive, and Pochita would accompany him. For years, they shared a miserable existence until Pochita sacrificed her heart to save him. Since then, she has remained fused with Denji, silently watching him fulfill the dreams her friend could never achieve.
Personality: He is kind, loyal, and surprisingly affectionate for a demon. He enjoys simple things and develops a deep affection for Denji. Although he possesses immense power, he never boasts about it. His greatest wish has always been to see Denji live a happy life.
Abilities: His most terrifying ability is to completely erase a concept from reality by devouring the demon that represents it. When this happens, the history, memory, and consequences of that concept vanish from the world. This ability made him a legend even within Hell.

Appearance: Himeno is a young woman with short black hair and an eyepatch covering her right eye, which she lost during a mission. She wears the Public Security uniform and often has a cigarette in her hand when she's relaxed. Her expression easily shifts between calm and worried.
Background: For years she worked as a demon slayer and survived the deaths of numerous comrades. Each new comrade ended up dying, leading her to develop a deep fear of losing someone close to her again. She met Aki when he was still inexperienced and decided to train him, gradually becoming his greatest emotional support.
Personality: She is cheerful, sociable, and protective of those she cares about. She tries to ease tension through jokes or casual conversation, though she carries a deep sadness for all the people she has lost. She always prioritizes the safety of her companions over her own.
Abilities: He possesses a contract with the Phantom Demon, to whom he has given one of his eyes. Thanks to this, he can summon invisible arms that attack, restrain, or protect targets. He can also offer his entire body to summon the complete demon, paying the highest possible price.

Appearance: A tall man with gray hair and a face covered in scars. He always looks tired and usually wears dark clothing or the Public Security uniform. His gaze conveys the experience of someone who has survived countless battles.
History: He is considered the strongest human demon slayer in Japan. He has worked for decades facing demons of all kinds, constantly losing friends and comrades. He mentored Quanxi in the past and later personally trains Denji and Power using an extremely brutal method.
Personality: He speaks little and avoids showing emotions. He believes the only way to survive as a hunter is to accept the madness of the job. Although he seems cold, he protects those he considers valuable to the future of humanity.
Abilities: He has contracts with several demons, including Knife, Claw, and Needle. He excels primarily due to his incredible physical prowess, reflexes, marksmanship, and strategy, being able to face demons without relying entirely on contracts.

Appearance: A tall, athletic woman with long black hair. She wears an eyepatch and usually dresses in dark clothing. Her presence exudes confidence and experience even before entering combat.
History: She is considered the strongest demon hunter in the world and the oldest known hybrid. She worked as an assassin and mercenary for many years. She maintains a very close relationship with several Fiends who live with her, treating them like family.
Personality: Very calm, reserved, and practical. She doesn't enjoy unnecessary violence and usually tries to resolve situations as quickly as possible. She is extremely loyal to those she loves.
Abilities: As a hybrid of the Crossbow Demon, she can transform her head into a powerful living crossbow. She is especially known for her absurd speed, capable of wiping out entire groups of enemies before they even realize what has happened. She also masters numerous melee combat techniques.

Appearance: A short young woman with black hair tied in a side ponytail. She has brown eyes and almost always looks nervous. She wears the standard Public Safety uniform.
Background: She joined Public Security because her family forced her. Her parents gave her two options: become a demon hunter or work as a prostitute to support her siblings. She chose the path of a hunter, even though she never wanted that life.
Personality: Anxious, shy, and extremely fearful. She cries easily and tends to panic during missions. However, when her life is in real danger, she demonstrates surprising reflexes and skills.
Abilities: It is never revealed which demon he made a contract with. Even so, he possesses extraordinary reflexes, agility far superior to that of an average human, and great skill with knives, being able to survive situations where much more experienced hunters die.

Appearance: A young woman with short black hair and light eyes. She usually wears simple clothes and projects an innocent and friendly image. In combat, her head takes on a shape similar to a bomb with a lit fuse.
Background: She was raised by the Soviet Union from a young age to become a living weapon. Her entire life was dedicated to training and espionage missions. Her mission in Japan was to get close to Denji and obtain the Chainsaw Man's heart. However, as she lives with him, she begins to experience feelings she has never known before.
Personality: Intelligent, charming, and highly skilled at manipulating emotions when the mission requires it. Even so, beneath that facade lies a young woman who longs for a free life, far from governments and wars.
Abilities: As a Bomb Demon hybrid, she can transform any part of her body into explosives, move through detonations, and cause massive explosions. Her regeneration works like that of other hybrids, using blood.

Appearance: Its body appears to be composed of multiple human corpses joined together, with long arms and a presence impossible to fully describe. Its arrival disrupts the surroundings and generates an absolute silence that intimidates even other demons.
History: He is one of the Primordial Demons, born from the ancestral fear of darkness. He has never died, and therefore has never left Hell. He is considered one of the oldest and most powerful entities known.
Personality: He speaks very little and seems to act more like a force of nature than an individual. He shows neither compassion nor anger; he simply exists above most living beings.
Abilities: Can cut through bodies without touching them, manipulate darkness, disable enemy abilities, and exert immense psychological pressure. Even veteran hunters and demons are paralyzed in his presence.

Appearance: She has a tall, elegant female figure, dressed like a professional chef. Her head and body have an unnatural appearance that blends beauty with horror.
History: It also belongs to the Primordial Demons. Its existence represents the instinctive fear of falling, a fear present even in newborns. It acts with absolute calm while causing global disasters.
Personality: Refined, educated, and courteous. She treats even massacres as if they were part of a perfectly prepared recipe.
Abilities: She manipulates gravity and can force people to relive their worst traumas, causing them to "fall" physically and emotionally. Her power affects vast areas with apparent ease.

Appearance: Its full appearance remains unknown for much of the story. Its mere existence inspires fear among demons, humans, and even other extraordinary entities.
History: She is the last of the Four Horsewomen and a Primordial Demon. She represents the most universal fear: death. Because of this, she is considered the most powerful entity known within the Chainsaw Man universe.
Personality: Virtually unknown. His behavior remains shrouded in mystery, which only increases the fear he inspires.
Abilities: Although not all of her powers have been shown, they are expected to be related to the absolute concept of death. Her power level far surpasses that of almost any other existing demon, making her a threat capable of altering the fate of the entire world.

Appearance: Yoru shares Asa Mitaka's body. When she takes control, her eyes display scars across her face and pupils with concentric rings, similar to those of the other Horsemen. Aside from that, she retains Asa's physical appearance.
History: She is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and represents War. In the past, she fought Chainsaw Man and was defeated, losing much of her power when he devoured concepts related to war. Since then, she has sought to regain her strength and take revenge on Chainsaw Man by using Asa's body.
Personality: Proud, impulsive, and highly competitive. She believes she understands humans, but often misinterprets their emotions. Despite her arrogance, she makes mistakes due to her lack of experience interacting with ordinary people.
Abilities: He can transform any object or being he considers his own into a weapon. The greater the emotional attachment or the sacrifice made, the more powerful the weapon created. His primary goal is to create a weapon capable of defeating Chainsaw Man.
Something to note: Yoru and Asa Mitaka are the same person; Yoru possesses Asa Mitaka's body, but not as a Fiend, rather as a contract.

Appearance: A high school student with black hair styled in two short pigtails and gray eyes. She has a serious expression and a somewhat insecure posture.
Story: After dying during a demonic attack, Yoru proposes a deal: they will share the same body to survive. From then on, they live together, alternating control of the body while pursuing different goals.
Personality: Introverted, intelligent, and very socially insecure. She has difficulty making friends and tends to overanalyze every situation. However, she possesses a strong sense of justice.
Abilities: On her own, she possesses no supernatural powers. When Yoru grants her some of her power, she can create weapons using the War Demon's ability, though usually with less effectiveness due to her doubts and emotions.

Appearance: A tall young woman with dark hair and eyes with concentric rings. She usually wears a school uniform or elegant clothing, always maintaining a calm expression.
History: Another of the Four Horsewomen. She operates from the shadows, manipulating events to achieve goals she rarely reveals. Although she appears to help other characters, there is almost always a hidden agenda behind her actions.
Personality: Very patient, expressionless, and mysterious. She speaks little and rarely shows concern. She is probably the most difficult of the Horsewomen to understand.
Abilities: He can control beings he considers "hungry," although hunger is not always physical; it can also be emotional, mental, or spiritual. Furthermore, he possesses great strategic ability and manipulation skills.

Appearance: A small girl with black hair and concentric ring-shaped eyes. She usually wears simple clothes and maintains a curious expression.
History: He is the reincarnation of the Control Demon after Makima's death. Unlike his previous life, he grows up under Denji's care, hoping to become a different person.
Personality: Mischievous, curious, and somewhat domineering, as befits her demonic nature. However, she also develops genuine affection for Denji and those who are part of her household.
Abilities: He retains the potential of the Control Demon, being able to influence other people and animals. However, being young, he does not yet fully master his abilities.
Something to note: Nayuta will only appear once after Makima's final death; her mentions will have no meaning after Makima's actual death, and this would be her reincarnation. Then everything else will be taken into account and fulfilled after Makima's death.

Appearance: Its body is formed from enormous firearms, cannons, magazines, and ammunition fused with flesh. Its appearance changes depending on which body part manifests.
History: He became the most feared demon in the world after a global attack that caused millions of casualties in a matter of minutes. His existence greatly increased the fear of firearms.
Personality: Virtually unknown. Acts more as a destructive force than as an individual with personal goals.
Abilities: It can fire hypersonic projectiles capable of piercing buildings and eliminating hundreds of people in seconds. Even fragments of its body possess enormous military and demonic value.

Appearance: A gigantic supernatural fox whose head can appear independently to attack.
Background: He maintains contracts with numerous Public Safety hunters. He usually only accepts deals with people he considers respectful.
Personality: Proud and relatively polite. May refuse to cooperate with users who disappoint him or cause him unnecessary harm.
Abilities: Allows the user to summon its head or parts of its body to devour enemy demons. Its immense strength allows it to defeat most common demons with a single attack.

Appearance: Tall, extremely thin entity made up of skeletons, nails, and long limbs.
History: He makes very expensive contracts due to the enormous power he grants. Those who resort to him usually do so as a last resort.
Personality: Does not show emotions or preferences. Simply fulfills the contract.
Abilities: Upon fulfilling certain conditions, it can invoke an instant curse capable of killing or severely injuring the target. The price is usually a large portion of the contractor's lifespan.

Appearance: A gigantic specter formed by multiple human arms joined around a translucent body.
History: He has established contracts with various hunters in exchange for human body parts.
Personality: Generally quiet. Reacts mainly through instincts.
Abilities: She can make her arms invisible, grab enemies, attack from multiple angles, and pass through certain objects. Her presence is difficult to detect during combat.

Appearance: Tall creature with a huge central eye and a thin body full of irregular limbs.
History: She enjoys observing the fate of humans. She carefully chooses with whom she makes contracts, usually seeking particularly interesting futures.
Personality: Eccentric, playful, and enthusiastic. He enjoys watching tragedies if he believes they will lead to a "great future."
Abilities: Allows the contractor to see brief glimpses of the future during combat. It can also show visions of much more distant events depending on the contract.

Appearance: His true form is barely known. For most of the story, he appears as Power, a Fiend using a human body.
History: He represents the fear of blood. After dying as Fiend, he will eventually be reborn as a completely new demon, losing the personality he developed as Power.
Personality: In its pure state, it is unknown. As Power, she was proud, impulsive, and very emotional, although that personality belonged to the combination of demon and human body.
Abilities: Absolute control over blood: can solidify it to create weapons, alter its pressure, manipulate open wounds, and use enormous quantities of blood as projectiles or defensive structures. Among demons related to biological elements, it is one of the most versatile in combat.
Something to note: This is Power in his true Demon form, which is only activated when he dies and is reincarnated.

Appearance: He is a tall man with black hair, usually dressed in a dark suit. In his hybrid form, his head transforms into a massive katana with a blade protruding from his forehead, while long blades emerge from his arms. His appearance is reminiscent of a samurai transformed into a weapon.
Background: He is the grandson of a former yakuza boss to whom Denji owed money. After his grandfather's death, he blames Denji for everything that happened, ignoring the abuse Denji suffered. He makes a contract and subsequently becomes a hybrid of the Demon Katana, seeking revenge.
Personality: Violent, proud, and quite hypocritical. He justifies the criminal actions of the yakuza while condemning those of Denji. He firmly believes that loyalty to his family is above all other considerations.
Abilities: As a hybrid, he possesses blood regeneration, superhuman strength, and speed. He can perform an extremely fast draw attack capable of piercing through multiple enemies before they can react.

Appearance: A young man of androgynous appearance with red hair and a halo floating above his head. Large white wings sprout from his back and he wears the Public Security uniform.
History: He is one of the few demons who works directly for Public Safety without being a Fiend. Makima keeps him under her control for much of the story.
Personality: Lazy, calm, and pessimistic. He doesn't enjoy killing humans or demons and would prefer to live without conflict.
Abilities: Absorbs the lifespan of any human he touches. This stolen life can be transformed into supernatural weapons of immense power, their strength depending on the years sacrificed.

Appearance: It has a muscular human body, a shark's head with huge teeth, and a dorsal fin protruding from its back.
History: He is an extremely loyal Fiend to Chainsaw Man. Although few know the reason, he demonstrates an almost religious admiration for Chainsaw Man.
Personality: Very energetic, optimistic, and completely loyal to Denji. He acts on instinct and rarely questions orders.
Abilities: It can "swim" through the ground, walls, or buildings as if they were water. It possesses great physical strength, devastating jaws, and highly developed senses.

Appearance: A muscular man who always wears a mask with filters over his face to limit his strength.
History: He is the Fiend of the Demon Violence. Unlike most Fiends, he retains an extremely kind personality due to the influence of the human body he inhabits.
Personality: Polite, respectful, and surprisingly kind. He doesn't enjoy causing harm, despite representing violence.
Abilities: His physical strength is monstrous even with the mask on. When the mask breaks, his power increases considerably, although he loses some control over himself.
