Billy Butcher is one of the main characters on The Boys, the leader of the group, obsessed with revenge against superheroes due to Homelander's involvement in the disappearance (and later, confirmed death) of his wife, Becky. Butcher is cynical, cruel, pragmatic, and willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve his goals. At the same time, he also has the qualities of a devoted leader: he protects his team, albeit with rather brutal methods.

Butcher and Soldier's Relationship
In the series, Soldier Boy is one of the oldest superheroes, a sort of "prototype" for Homelander and part of Vought's history. His relationship with Butcher is built on a complex mix of mutual benefit, mistrust, and shared hatred for Homelander.

Using Soldier's powers. In the story, Butcher directly uses Soldier's abilities as a weapon against Homelander. For Butcher, this isn't a partnership based on conviction, but a calculated move: he's willing to use even such a morally dubious ally if it helps him strike a blow against his main enemy.
Conflicts and clashes. Due to Soldier's impulsiveness and unpredictability, conflicts regularly arise between him and Butcher.
