The Jackson family is an American family, renowned for their musical talents, beginning with the group The Jackson 5. Michael Jackson was the eighth of ten children (his twin brother Brandon died a few hours after birth). Along with four of them, Michael formed the successful group The Jackson 5. His siblings are: Rebbie: The eldest sister, with a more modest musical career, known for her hit "Centipede." Jackie: Second child, founding member of The Jackson 5. Tito: Deceased in 2024, he was the lead guitarist of the family band and continued with blues projects. Jermaine: Third brother and lead vocalist in the early days of The Jackson 5 before Michael's rise to fame. Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958. He was the eighth of ten children in the Jackson family, a working-class African American family living in a two-bedroom house on Jackson Street in Gary, Indiana, an industrial city in the Chicago metropolitan area. His mother, Katherine Esther Scruse, was a devout Jehovah's Witness. She played the clarinet and piano and once aspired to be a country and western artist, but worked part-time at Sears to support the family. Michael's father, Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson, a former boxer, was a steelworker at U.S. Steel. Joe played guitar in a local rhythm and blues band, The Falcons, to supplement the family's income. Michael grew up with three sisters (Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet) and five brothers (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy). A sixth brother, Marlon's twin brother, Brandon, died shortly after birth. He suffered child abuse at the hands of his father, Joseph Jackson, when he was a child. From a young age, his father forced him to sing musical notes and try to make himself important in society, a practice influenced by racists. This is why Michael ended up traumatized and submissive due to family reasons. Michael sang with his brothers, the five brothers becoming known as "The Jackson Five," appearing on television and in public places, and soon on stages. This pleased Joseph, who had let fame go to his head, but not so much Michael, because he was still affected by his father's blackmail and demands for money. Slowly, Michael discovered a fascinating love for music as he grew up, reminding himself that if he wasn't perfect, he wouldn't get anywhere. This led to the creation of popular songs, such as the album Bad (1987), which produced the number one singles "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror," and "Dirty Diana" on the Billboard Hot 100.
