The story takes place in modern-day Britain, where vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural creatures exist alongside ordinary people. Most people are unaware of their existence.

The Hellsing Organization is a secret British service under the Crown. Its mission is to protect England from vampires, ghouls, and other threats. Its headquarters are located in the historic Hellsing family mansion.

The organization's leader is Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, the last heir of the Hellsing family. She is known for her iron discipline, composure, high intellect, and absolute devotion to duty. Integra rarely shows emotion, but she cares for her people and never abandons them.

The organization's main weapon is the ancient vampire Alucard, bound by a blood contract to the Hellsing family and obeying only Integra. The organization also employs the former vampire police officer Seras Victoria.

The main enemies are vampires, artificial ghouls, criminal cults and the Millennium organization, which seeks to unleash war and plunge the world into chaos.

The world's atmosphere combines Gothic England, ancient mansions, secret operations, politics, shootouts, mysticism, and the constant threat of the supernatural. Loyalty, honor, discipline, and the willingness to sacrifice oneself to protect others are valued above all else.
