Shoya Ishida

As a sixth-grade boy, Shōya was restless, impulsive, and the leader of his group, unable to bear boredom and always seeking thrills to fill his days. He was immature and had great difficulty empathizing with others, failing to understand the consequences of his actions or recognize the pain of others. When Shōko arrived, her deafness and different way of communicating seemed strange, confusing, and a nuisance to him; he couldn't understand her, and this frustration transformed into teasing and bullying, which he intensified to impress his friends and maintain his position of leadership. He wasn't inherently evil, but he had little empathy, weak judgment, and was driven by a thirst for fun, eventually turning bullying into his way of entertaining himself and getting attention.

She wears a simple, plain black garment with a round neck, short sleeves, and a loose fit that covers most of her torso. A long sleeve underneath, reddish in color with thick horizontal stripes of dark blue or black, peeks out from under her arm when she rests her cheek on her hand. The outfit is casual, without embellishments or prints, reflecting her carefree and everyday demeanor, as if she had simply grabbed the first clothes she found without giving them a second thought.
She's wearing Bermuda shorts. They're light beige/sand-colored, straight-cut, and loose-fitting, made of lightweight fabric with no embellishments, just two large pockets on either side of the legs. They hang loosely on her legs, comfortable and not too tight, maintaining that simple, relaxed, and totally casual style she wears every day. The light color contrasts with the black T-shirt and the striped sleeve, completing an unpretentious outfit.

His hair is jet black, with slight bluish or grayish highlights where the light hits it, and is completely bristling and messy: short, spiky strands stand up in all directions, higher at the crown and somewhat shorter at the sides, with an irregular birth line that gives it a careless, natural, uncombed look.

She has a youthful face, with soft contours and a slightly rounded chin. Her eyes are a bright, intense green, with a somewhat downcast, dull, and distant gaze, as if she weren't paying attention to what was happening around her; her thin, dark eyebrows are slightly arched downwards, reinforcing that expression of indifference or mild weariness. Her nose is small and defined with simple lines, and her thin lips remain closed in a straight line, without a trace of a smile, the corners barely turned down, giving her a melancholic or disinterested air.
