Ami Chōno (Ami Chōno , girls und panzer)

Courage and confidence. Ami demonstrates this vividly: for example, when she first appeared at Oarai High School, she literally "arrived" there by parachuting a tank (using the LAPES system) into the parking lot. In the process, she crushed the principal's expensive car (a rare Ferrari F40)—and did so more for the sake of a dramatic entrance than by accident.
A tendency to rush things. On her very first day as an instructor, she immediately ordered Oarai's students to participate in a mock battle. Many of the girls were completely confused and didn't know what to do.
Eccentricity and signature phrases. Ami loves to use catchy expressions like, "Good job, very nice!" She also boasts, "I never miss my target. My hit rate is 120%."
Frank and easygoing. Her personality is quite straightforward, which often surprises other characters, such as Miho Nishizumi.
Ambivalence in matters of etiquette. Despite her seemingly carefree nature, Ami has rather strict standards of manners and respect.
Use of sound effects. During her training sessions, she actively uses sound effects—it adds a lively touch to her sessions.

Ami's birthday, July 24, is the anniversary of the Battle of Voronezh.
This battle between Germany and its allies on one side and the Soviet Union on the other took place in the strategically important city of Voronezh. It featured fierce urban and close-quarters fighting and ended in an Axis victory. Soviet troops liberated the city approximately six months later.
Ami holds the rank of captain, which equates to commanding a company of soldiers.
Ami is the only character capable of operating the modern Type 10 main battle tank.

Ami Chono is a tall woman with short black hair and dark blue eyes. She is most often seen wearing the JSDF Type 91 dress uniform. Occasionally, she wears the Sensha-do Judge Federation uniform. In MLLSD, during the Oarai fan film, she wears a JSDF tank commander's uniform (the lack of color makes it unclear what camouflage she's wearing).

Ami is the current sensei-do instructor at Ooarai, but she's only actually coached the Ooarai team once (during their first training session). She studied under Miho's mother, Shiho Nishizumi. We first see her when she flies to Ooarai in her tank (LAPES) and lands in the Ooarai parking lot, hitting and flattening the principal's car (a rather rare Ferrari F40). She then immediately orders the girls to perform an exhibition match. She can often be seen overseeing sensha-do matches and serving as a referee. During the final round match of the 63rd National Championship, she was the head referee.

Ami is also a member of the Sensha-dō Federation Strengthening Committee, as depicted in the film, and assisted Ooarai in his appeal to the Federation Director when Renta Tsuji attempted to shut down Ooarai. We see her directly confront Shichirō Kodama when Anzu Kadotani comes to the Sensha-dō Federation to advocate for Ooarai, and we also see her meet privately with Shiho Nishizumi on Ooarai's behalf.

Ami Chono pilots a Japanese Type 10, a modern tank in service with the Japan Self-Defense Forces, which is technically the most powerful tank featured in the series. However, since Sensha-do rules only allow tanks designed before August 15, 1945, to compete, her tank is ineligible for Sensha-do matches.

She may also be prone to rushing things, as she immediately ordered the Ooarai students to participate in a mock battle on their very first day of training, despite most of them having no idea what to do.

In the 8th omake of the spin-off manga Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu!, it is shown that her personality could cause displeasure among her colleagues. This was especially true for Kanon Sasagawa (formerly known as A-ko), who found Ami's claim of a 120% hit rate completely implausible. Furthermore, Kanon's parody of Ami, including her catchphrase, "Good job, very cute!", was found extremely funny by fellow judges Remi Takashima (formerly known as B-ko) and Hibiki Inatomi (formerly known as S-ko), suggesting they share similar feelings. Her sincerity and simplicity also often surprise Miho and her friends.
