Yuji acquired the cursed energy when he entered the world of sorcerers after swallowing one of Ryomen Sukuna's fingers to save his friends. This made him its vessel and allowed him to learn how to use the cursed energy under the guidance of Satoru Gojo. Yuji's sorcery technique is unique because for a long time he seemed to lack any innate technique of his own. Instead, he fought using: his physical strength, cursed energy to enhance his blows, Divergent Fist, and Black Flash. Later, he awakens abilities related to Blood Manipulation, a technique associated with the Death Painting brothers, especially Choso. This allows him to use his blood in special ways and recover more quickly from certain injuries. He also gains access to a very important technique called Shrine, related to Sukuna. This technique allows him to perform cursed cuts similar to Sukuna's, although in a different and less powerful way. In short: Yuji started as a super strong fist fighter, then learned to use cursed energy, and finally awakened inherited techniques related to blood and to Sukuna.
