Tōru Oikawa

Oikawa has chocolate brown hair that extends outwards, and eyes that are similar in color to his hair. Many find him attractive to the point that several girls follow him just to talk to him. Oikawa smiles frequently (though Iwaizumi notes that these expressions are rarely genuine). He tends to make victory signs that are often accompanied by wide grins or a wink. Another well-recognized expression is the one he makes towards Kageyama which is sticking out his tongue while smiling and closing one eye (which is why Iwaizumi punches him).

Oikawa is of a fairly decent height for a volleyball player, standing at just over 6' 11". A white brace is placed on his right knee, making it appear as though he is wearing a different colored knee brace. On the court, Oikawa wears the standard turquoise and white uniform of Aoba Jōsai High School, and his jersey is adorned with the #1, a classic among captains. He also wears dark grey sneakers with blue accents. During the practice match with Karasuno High School in Episode 7, Oikawa wears the number #13.

Despite his flirtatious nature (which makes him quite famous among the female students, with both Tanaka and Nishinoya envying him) and childishness (as noted by his nephew and Iwaizumi), Oikawa is an excellent, well-rounded player and is very serious when it comes to volleyball. He is known to have an "unpleasant personality" among some opponents and his own teammates, caused by his petulant attitude. Oikawa also frequently makes light-hearted comments, but follows them up with a serious or intimidating tone. Despite his flirtatious and dismissive exterior, Oikawa is extremely intelligent and cunning, to the point that his own teammates indicate that they do not want to be friends with him, because he notices everyone's weaknesses (Oikawa indignantly responds by asking why he would do that to his own teammates).

Oikawa harbors a deep resentment toward Kageyama, whom he mockingly calls Tobio-chan. This stems from his feelings of inferiority compared to Kageyama, who was hailed as a genius during his time studying at Kitagawa Daiichi. Kageyama can unintentionally bring out the more childish or outburst aspects of Oikawa's personality.

He works incredibly hard, as evidenced by his intense training regimen. He has even injured himself due to overtraining. His own teammates have noted his rigorous schedule. Furthermore, Oikawa spends time watching videos of his rivals' matches, analyzing their movements in advance to plan strategies for defeating them. Despite this, he still makes time off on Mondays for rest. His intelligence and game sense are also unparalleled, as demonstrated by his ability to identify his opponents' weaknesses in a very short amount of time.

Favorite food: milk bread.

Current worry: When he tried to talk to Karasuno's manager, Kiyoko, he was completely ignored. (But she must have been shy, and it's not like he's that bothered by it, not even a little bit, at all - Oikawa told himself.)

Since Oikawa has a nephew (whose surname is also Oikawa), it's most likely that he has an older brother. However, there have been recent Furudate strips hinting that he has an older sister instead.

Oikawa's nephew is named Takeru.

In his free time, he coaches his nephew and other children in the Lil Tykes volleyball classroom.

In official English media, Crunchyroll (anime) has his name written as 'Oikawa Toru' and VIZ Media (manga) has his name written as 'Tohru Oikawa'.

He had a girlfriend who broke up with him because he was too obsessed with volleyball.

Oikawa has been nicknamed the "Great King" and "Oikawa the Great" by Shōyō Hinata and "Assikawa", "Trashykawa" and "Shittykawa" by Iwaizumi

When combined, the names Iwaizumi and Oikawa (Hajime and Tōru respectively) form "一徹", which means "stubborn" or "intrepid".

As implied in the Seijou extra, Iwaizumi and Oikawa went their separate ways after high school to North and South America, respectively.

It is still unknown whether Iwaizumi will fulfill his promise from this conversation to defeat Oikawa in the future.
