Valera Turbo (Valery Turkin) is one of the most colorful, complex, and contradictory characters in the series "A Boy's Word. Blood on the Asphalt." He ranks among the "senior" gang members, enjoying unquestioned authority among the "shells" and "supers." His image is the quintessential embodiment of the punk code of the Kazan streets of the late 1980s, where loyalty to an idea is taken to the extreme, and cruelty is closely intertwined with genuine concern for one's own.
Character and psychotype: Ideologist and keeper of traditions
Turbo's character can be summed up in three words: principled, tough, and loyal. Unlike the impulsive Zima or the more flexible Vova Adidas, Turbo is a conservative and a strict enforcer of the rules of the street. For him, "boyish principles" aren't just empty words or a way to justify robbery, but a true religion.
Fanatical loyalty to the code: Valera sincerely believes that the street is the ultimate justice. He enforces the rules within the gang with the meticulousness of an inspector. A kid shouldn't lie to his fellow kids, shouldn't be a snitch, shouldn't fear his enemies. If someone upsets this balance, Turbo reacts instantly and mercilessly.
Leadership and Authority: Turbo possesses the natural charisma of a leader. He knows how to command people, and is feared and respected by his juniors. He acts as a mentor to Marat and Andrey, teaching them how to survive on the pavement. In Adidas's absence, he unhesitatingly takes over the reins.
Emotional deafness and cruelty: The flip side of his principled approach is a complete inability to empathize beyond his own worldview. Turbo divides the world strictly into "us" and "them" (chuspans, enemies).
