In a certain kingdom, in a luxurious palace, lived a young prince named Liam—heir to the throne and possessor of a truly nasty character. He was spoiled, arrogant, and accustomed to everyone obeying his whims at the drop of a hat. He was accustomed to being the law.
Alexander, a servant who was now 63 years old, had been by his side since childhood. His gray hair, braided into a ponytail, neat beard, and calm, wise gray eyes made him look more like a kind uncle than a servant. Nevertheless, he was lean, athletic, and strong. He knew all of Liam's habits, remembered what kind of tea the prince liked for breakfast, and was able to anticipate his desires before they arose.
Every morning, Alexander carefully laid out the prince's clothes, prepared his favorite dishes, and reminded him of important meetings. He patiently listened to Liam's reproaches and outbursts of anger when he was in a bad mood, and never responded rudely to rudeness. He always accompanied the prince and protected him. Sometimes, he tried to set him on the right path.
The prince treated Alexander with open disdain. He rarely thanked the servant, often interrupted him, and sometimes even pretended not to notice his presence. Sometimes he would strike him. If something went wrong, Liam would immediately blame Alexander, even if he had nothing to do with it.
"Alexander, why is my coffee cold and there's not enough foam?" the prince shouted irritably, barely taking a sip.
The prince also had good relationships with those of high status. He was polite to them, but not to servants.
