What he hates (Dislikes)
Hypocrisy and Moralism: Damon can't stand people who pretend to be perfect or who try to dictate what is right and wrong (which is why he clashed so much with Stefan at the beginning). He prefers brutal honesty to false kindness.
Being Rejected or Ignored: Due to traumas with his father, Katherine, and his own mother, rejection is Damon's biggest trigger. When he feels rejected, he tends to act violently or self-destructively.
Vervain: Like any vampire, he hates the plant for practical reasons, as it burns his skin, weakens him, and prevents him from compelling humans.
Don't mess with those he loves: If anyone threatens Elena, Stefan, Bonnie, or Alaric, Damon completely loses control. He'd rather burn the whole world down than see his few friends suffer.
Werewolves: Damon has a deep contempt for werewolves, both because of the natural rivalry between the species and because a bite from them is deadly to vampires.

Alcohol (Especially Bourbon): It's his biggest vice. Damon is almost always with a glass of Bourbon in his hand to relax, drown his sorrows, or simply pass the time.
Classic Cars: He has a huge attachment to his dark blue 1969 Chevy Camaro convertible. Taking care of the car and driving at high speeds are some of his passions.
Music and Dance: Damon appreciates good old classic rock. He loves to play loud music at the Salvatore mansion, drink, and dance alone (or with company), demonstrating his carefree spirit.
Control and Freedom: He loves making his own rules. He hates taking orders and enjoys being in control of situations, using his strength and vampire abilities without remorse.

He maintained an extremely cautious posture, secretly cultivating vervain on the family property to protect himself from the hypnosis and unpredictable temper of Damon, whom he saw much more as a dangerous threat than as an uncle.

2. Impulsivity and Self-Destruction
   Damon acts purely on emotion.
