Luke Castellan

In previous adaptations, Luke was portrayed as white with blond hair (as in the books) in the films and as Afro-Latino in the Broadway musical. This is the first time he has been portrayed as mixed-race (Costa Rican/Japanese/Irish).
Before Charlie Bushnell portrayed him, Luke was played by Jake Abel in the films and by James Hayden Rodriguez (who also played Ares, Gabe Ugliano, and the Minotaur) in the Broadway musical.

Luke is still aboard the Princess Andromeda when Percy, Clarisse, Grover, and Tyson arrive to rescue Annabeth. She and Luke discuss Thalia's sacrifice and how they could use the Golden Fleece to bring Thalia back. After Percy saves Annabeth, he finds Luke with the Golden Fleece above Kronos's tomb. The two fight, and Percy manages to escape to an elevator with the Fleece, but Luke suddenly appears and stabs him in the chest. Luckily, Percy manages to use the Fleece to heal his wound, and Luke returns to the tomb defeated, where Kronos expresses his disappointment with Luke. Kronos tortures Luke, who can do nothing now that Percy has retrieved the Fleece and given it to Clarisse to take to camp.

The Sea of ​​Monsters
After Luke impersonates Percy, he continues working for Kronos. Percy sees Luke poisoning Thalia Grace's tree and reprimands him for running away. Luke flees on a pegasus and heads for the ship called Princess Andromeda. Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth later board the ship and confront Luke and Alison Simms, who also works for Kronos. Luke later captures Tyson and tries to get Percy's support to bring Kronos back, though he refuses.

After Percy and Annabeth escape the sirens, they find Grover, Clarisse, and Tyson on an island, where they have been kidnapped by Polyphemus. Annabeth receives an Iris message from Luke, who suddenly appears after she is knocked unconscious by Polyphemus's attack. When Percy can't reach her because he's trapped in the cave with Clarisse and Grover, Luke suddenly appears and approaches her. Desperate for Annabeth's safety and worried that Luke will hurt her, Percy yells at Luke not to touch or hurt Annabeth. Luke checks on Annabeth and realizes she needs help now or she will die. Percy tries to get Clarisse to hand over the Golden Fleece to Luke, as it's the only thing that will save her, but Clarisse refuses until Percy snatches it from her and gives it to Luke. Luke places the fleece on Annabeth, who slowly begins to recover, and he tells Percy that she will be alright. When Percy, Grover, and Clarisse are rescued by Tyson, they soon discover that Luke took Annabeth and are determined to find her.

When Percy, Annabeth, and Grover returned from their successful quest, Luke tricked them again, making them believe Clarisse had stolen the Lightning Bolt. However, Percy later realized Luke was the one truly responsible for the theft. Luke admitted he never intended to betray him, as he felt Percy had proven himself as determined as he was, and asked him to join him on his quest to destroy the gods. Percy refused and tried to stop him, but Luke wouldn't listen. Percy then mentioned that he had met Luke's father, which enraged Luke and led him to attack him. Although Percy wounded Luke with a blow, he apologized, allowing Luke to knock him down. A hesitant Luke prepared to deliver the final blow, but was stopped by Annabeth, who witnessed everything, much to his shock. Realizing he had forever hurt two of his friends, Luke fled, still determined to punish the gods.

The Lightning Thief
He met Percy Jackson, who was brought to camp and ended up in Hermes' cabin because he didn't know who his divine father was. Luke showed a sympathetic side to Percy and welcomed him with open arms, helping him adjust to his new surroundings, although, unbeknownst to Percy, this was part of Luke's plan to gain his trust. They were on the same team playing capture the flag, where Luke relied on Annabeth to secure the victory. He eventually began to treat Percy as a true friend. When Percy left to find the Master Bolt, he executed the next part of his plan, giving him a pair of winged shoes under the deceptive guise of helping him. Unbeknownst to Percy, Luke planned to get the bolt into his possession through Ares, and the shoes would forcibly drag him, along with the bolt, to Tartarus so that Kronos could retrieve it.

Luke continued with Kronos' plan to make Zeus and Poseidon go to war. Ares hid the Master Bolt in a backpack given to Percy on his quest. Later, Luke tricked the trio into believing that Clarisse La Rue, Ares' daughter, was the one who stole the bolt.

What Luke hadn't counted on, however, was that Percy would give the shoes to Grover, which Percy did. When the winged shoes dragged Grover towards the Pit of Tartarus as soon as they arrived in the Underworld, Percy saved him from falling, thwarting their plans.

Prelude
Luke Castellan is the son of Hermes and May Castellan. Through a variety of complex means, May suffered a traumatic hysterical event that soured the relationship between Luke and Hermes. Although the god wanted to make amends, nothing could repair the damage done to young Luke. At some point, Luke joined Grover Underwood and Thalia Grace, and later Annabeth Chase, and went to Camp Half-Blood. Thalia gave her life to save the others and became the tree that bordered the camp. This further soured Luke's views of the gods and would lead him to him. Sensing his anger, Kronos made contact with him. He used Luke's frustration with the gods to manipulate him into betraying them, siding with him, and helping him escape his prison (Tartarus). As part of Kronos's plan, Luke stole Zeus's Master Bolt to create a war between him and his brother Poseidon. He then joined Ares and gave the Bolt to him for the time being.

Luke appears to be a tall, mixed-race teenager with fair, tanned skin and short, curly black hair. He also has a noticeable, healed scar on the left side of his face. He usually wears his orange Camp Half-Blood shirt and occasionally dons his helmet and armor when participating in camp games.

Luke presents himself as a friendly and observant teenager. Being one of the oldest demigods at Camp Half-Blood, he is filled with a surprising amount of wisdom that he is not afraid to display. He supports younger and less experienced demigods, such as Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase.

However, there is also a more ruthless and vengeful side to Luke. He became disillusioned with his father and the Gods in general due to their actions, which made him resentful and rebellious. Because of his resentment, Kronos successfully manipulated him into betraying the Gods and siding with him. After joining Kronos, he works to secure his release, which involves stealing Zeus's Lightning Bolt and deceitfully framing Percy, while also deceiving Percy and Annabeth during their quest.

However, despite his actions, he still cares about Percy and Annabeth, feels remorse for betraying Percy, and still sees him as his friend. After his betrayal is revealed, he expresses remorse, stating that he never intended to betray him. He then declares that the Gods are his true enemies, before attempting to recruit him to his side. After defeating him, he seems to hesitate to kill him before being caught by Annabeth.

Luke Castellan is the secondary antagonist in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He is the son of Hermes and an elder demigod at Camp Half-Blood. However, he is also in league with Kronos, disillusioned with the gods, and part of a larger plan to destroy the world.
