Parallel of Overcoming: Vin Jin began to stop physically bullying him when he started confronting his own past in Cheonliang and accepting his own weaknesses. At the beginning of the series, Vin Jin is Deok-hwa's main bully. His hatred wasn't gratuitous, but rather stemmed from a deep insecurity.
Reflection of the past: Vin Jin projected his own childhood traumas onto Deok-hwa in Cheonliang, where he was ostracized for his polycoria (double pupils). Seeing Deok-hwa being humiliated but remaining steadfast enraged Vin because he couldn't do the same back then.
