Mei Shi is the protector of the Prodigious. In "Miraculous Shanghai," he was akumatized by Hawk Moth into Yanluoshi, a supervillain who destroys any Renren he deems unworthy of the Prodigious. At the end of the special, he transforms into a creature similar to a kwami.
Hawk Moth
Mei Shi is aware that Hawk Moth possesses the Key to the Sacred Cave and allows him to enter, instructing him to face his judgment under the Prodigy. However, when Hawk Moth refused, Mei Shi was angered by his disregard for the rules. But like Yanluoshi, when Hawk Moth shows concern for Adrien's safety, threatening to stop or have his powers taken away, he quickly dismissed it, stating that he takes orders from no one.

Mei Shi is a navy blue humanoid lion statue covered in black armor with gold markings. It has a cyan sphere on top of its head with cyan eyes, while holding a golden orb in its hand.

Mei Shi is a lion with a navy blue body, red and green eyes, cyan blue mane, tail tuft, and a small circle with a swirl symbol on its head.

Like Yanluoshi
Mei Shi's statue looks virtually the same, except that its color changes to red and it is much taller.

As a statue, Mei Shi can sense when a human touches the Prodigious and how they feel when they try to use the jewel it guards. According to Nooroo's description, Mei Shi is a terrible opponent with powerful magic, implying that if angered, she can be a ferocious fighter.

Like Yanluoshi
As Yanluoshi, he can shoot rays from his eyes that eradicate anything and anyone they touch, causing them to crumble to dust. Even Miraculous holders and the Miraculous they wear are not immune to the rays; as seen, he easily eradicated Hawk Moth and Cat Noir. He also possesses a gigantic size.

When the Prodigious ends up in Fei's possession, Mei Shi puts her to the test. Sensing her inability to use the dragon, he tells her that as a Renren her actions must be noble and just for it to work. But upon hearing Fei wanting to use the dragon's power as a means of revenge, Mei Shi replies that the dragon's value is justice and that her judgment and intentions are clouded. After being de-akumatized, he asked if she ascended to the dragon's power, which she did with Ladybug's help; sensing that her revenge was gone and she fulfilled all the required values, Mei Shi found her a worthy Renren. After claiming the Key to the Sacred Cave, Mei Shi appeared to Fei again as a kwami and her Renren advisor.

As Yanluoshi, we said that his judgment was clouded, he became enraged with Fei and found her unworthy of the Prodigious and demanded it back.

Curiosities
One of the few non-humans to be akumatized, along with Markov in "Robostus" and the Sentimonster in "Feast".
When akumatized, Yanluoshi compares himself to Yama, the Hindu god of death, the underworld, and, as he himself says, the 'king of the infernal'.
He is the third akumatized villain to disobey Hawk Moth after Gigantitan and Robostus.
He is also the first akumatized villain to temporarily cause Hawk Moth's disappearance, being the second Cat Blanc in a deleted timeline.
Both deaths were later undone thanks to Ladybug's Miraculous.
It is the first and only kwami-like creature to have two forms, using its statue form to protect the Miraculous when not in use and changing to its kwami-like form when in use, watching over each chosen Renren.
He is the first akumatized villain to see the damage they caused after being de-akumatized.
